Park Run (Sandon Point) 59:40 [2] 5.0 km (11:56 / km)
shoes: bright pink

Always planned to walk as O obligations in the afternoon. But rockman decided he was going to participate so change of plan, slightly.
Very picturesque but very exposed parkrun but still with the same kindness and spirit of parkrun. Started a little late due to navigational errors but still within the realms of possibilities. rockman kept up a stirring pace!
Nice start to busy weekend.

Event (SL 10 - Cataract Scout Ca) 29:27 [3] 2.2 km (13:23 / km)
spiked:6/8c

Fairly easy nav - Scout Camp is pretty benign but happy to support at it was Schools Champs. Could really have been Bush sprint. Only unhappy with 1 route choice (followed some people whom I suspected had local knowledge - which they did) and the last control where there is some considerable discussion about rockface mapping - or lack thereof.
Fairly happy with speed in bush, but not with being allowed to be distracted by others.

gym class (Body Sculpt) 55:00 [3]

Took a few of the easier options today as 4 runs over the weekend may just tax the knees too much. Good class - well structured. Would have been very good had I pushed hard.

gym class (Body Pump) 1:03:00 [3]

After the class walked out behind 5 people in their early 20s I guess. Conversation:
That was tough.
My arms hurt. It makes me think I've never used them before.
I was about to suggest that might have been the case with their legs too as 5 abreast they completely blocked hallway to the exit and walked so slowly someone would have had time to duck into the changerooms and back out and still not be able to leave. We couldn't get around them as they all had wires dangling from 1 ear too.

Note

ARWC Cowboy Tough now over - 3rd place and a brilliant come from behind effort, though sad for team that had to retire so close to the end, for Team Adventure Medical Kits led by NSW Stinger! Dot watching over. More sleep and quite possibly might get something done.
9 AM

gym class (Cross Trainer) 1:00:00 [5]
shoes: bright pink

A few 10-12-14-16-+ challenges on legs.
Triceps - 10-12-14-12-10
Cardio challenge - i improved by 38 secs.
Totally knackered now. Shower then off to prep meeting for Yr 7 - 270 of the darlings.

Event (Morundah) 1:12:00 [3]

Had a less than auspicious start to leaving today - so the planned 8:30 start was actually 9:00.Tthis upset me a bit plus a few other niggles. Got to the event hoping to see some people before my Girl Guides arrived but they were already there. 9 girls plus 4 parents and 2 leaders so a good turnout. I did the full briefing and then went to first control with them. Tried to spur them along (an orienteering pun no less) and some took it really well. Then back to get taped for my run. Found I hadn't packed gators and didn't even tape feet properly, plus i was wearing rockman's O socks so a very haphazard start.
Map is 1:5 000 and 2 Hard courses on offer. Because of the time constraints I elected to do the Shorter course. Kept the mantra of 1:5 000 until #3 when I thought I had it all under control. But then I got to the area of the property - SE corner which is my Bermuda Triangle, and so it was again. But now I've sorted my failings out. I keep saying 1:5 000 and think of it on the y axis but not on the X axis so the control being close to the w/c and edge of map I was using a 1:10 000 scale - so no that tree root mound can't be mine it's too close to the w/c. So fluffed around, went N came S relocated and then saw someone leaving it! URGH. Then went too far for 4-5 but other than those 2 it wasn't too bad. There are so many parallel clearings and bare rock slabs it is really good training for keeping map contact. Very rough underfoot and very steep so again good training.
Really only good part for today was I got a fair bit of terrain experience and seemed to be moving fairly well compared to LH. It was also good to have her around me - I had to ignore what she was doing, and got away from her 3x and spiked 3 controls in same period.
But still have struggles with this map. Pity to miss out on the Yard-O; will be pleased to look at it on RG.
Bit turnout today with some new families brought along by people.
Lovely afternoon drinking tea and eating cake in the new gazebo talking lots of things over. Then back to Stockton for family gathering with b-i-l down from QLD form school reunion. We were invited for brunch - a bit late.
Pretty tired tonight. Looking forward to Rest Day Wednesday.
