Event (Sugarloaf NOY1) 1:41:00 [3] *** 3.84 km (26:18 / km) +120m 22:45 / km
spiked:10/13c shoes: new black O

Still restricted to walking and helped out on Desk for an hour after helping to set up. Was supposed to be on Admin for newcomers but someone else did that.
Tough area, and it is also seductive. It is a well known picnic area and we've used it a bit for events but still need to be very wary.Started off OK, then came the climbs. Tried to contour a bit between 5 and 6 but went too far around so ducked out to powerline clearing and came in at tiny clearing. Thought I did fairly well here in reading vegetation and pulled 6 quickly. Also seemed to do well in picking attack area for 7. Big slog up hill to 8 which was one I spiked at SL last year but then spent an age going through the stripe to get to track to contour around to major road and bench. En route to 9 my dressings slid off and I could feel blood trickling down my cheek - oh that's not good. But not much to do so kept going to 9 which was OK then over across road to 10. I've had trouble in this area before and again I was too far to the SE and was just at the start of the cliff rather than midway. Colin Currie was strolling around same area and he convinced me I wasn't even in the circle. I was misinterpreting several rock features making them into the cliff line. But when i found the cliff line it was obvious. Estimating where the break was and the boulder - and at the foot... well I peered over the edge and didn't see the flag - decided to go along further and looked back and there it was ! I thought distance was OK - and so it was. 11 OK then 12 slog up hill. Along to 13 and Finish.
Probably trying to make the most of the situation - but I shouldn't perhaps walk courses and enjoy them so much. I might forget one is supposed to run a bit.
Note: so now my scraped skin off heel from yesterday has been superseded by a 2cmx1cm blister over the top!
