Orienteering race 16:42:54 [4] 60.54 km (16:34 / km) +6758ft 14:09 / km
shoes: Salomon Fellraiser

World Rogaining Championships. My Garmin 500 is only good for about 18 hours, and we had to bag it 2+ hours prior to the start, so I didn't get all of our distance. I would put us at 65k overall.

We naved well for the most part. 1:33k map, so there was some detail missing for sure. We didn't have any issues with control location, but roads stopped (on the map) and kept going on the ground, roads missing, etc. We compensated and kept plugging.

We had a bobble on our third control, which was on a small feature in thick woods. We took some conservative routes, which aided in finding controls, but definitely added distance. We also planned one control sequence of 3 controls poorly.

In the end, we went to have fun, and we did. When it stopped being fun due to Clark's feet and my general lack of fitness due to issues with my calf... we called it a day.

28 controls. 1600 points.

Orienteering race 1:48:09 [3] 5.41 mi (19:59 / mi) +268ft 19:06 / mi
shoes: Altra Superior 1.5

MNOC Blue course at MLK. Really struggled from the start. Ran near the control twice without seeing it, then tweaked my calf on the way to #2. I walked 3-12 then quit to get out of the mosquitos. Even in slow go mode... I bombed #6....

Great map. Too many bugs.
