MNOC ROGAINE with Corey.
Had a great run. Not super fast, but very clean. Warmer than we have been used to so I got a bit crampy. Good reminder for the race next weekend to pound endurolytes and water.
Western portion of the map had more trail options and was a bit quicker. The eastern portion, we only ran on trails for about 400 meters mid section and then as we left the area. A couple hesitant controls where I thought we should have been able to see the flag, and sure enough 10' later one of us would spy it. Two brain farts where I left the map, since I thought the route would focus us well, cost us a wade through a swamp and a useless 400 meter out and back with two controls to go. Stay focused...
All in all, a great day in the woods and another high quality MNOC event. Great turnout!!

Warm up jog with Corey and Guerfondler. Trying to figure out strategy for the race. Do I feel good enough to run, or should I tag on to their plan and just treat it as a workout. My crappy running tendencies... I probably knew deep down what would happen.

Endless Summer Trail Race: Lebanon Hills 7 Mile
Since we had jogged a portion of the trail close to the start, I knew that about 50 yards in we went from field to single track... true to form, I jack rabbit the start, but all that really does is give me position... We quickly form a line with minimal passing opportunities. Feels comfortable, and I pass about 10 peeps the first chance I get. Eventually, the passing subsides and we settle in to a rhythm... 7:10 first mile, sub 7 2nd mile... In my mind, I am thinking... don't blow up, you can't walk it in. My main issue was this was only my second time ever at this park, so I didn't know if we had killer hills coming, sections of flat.. nothing. I settled in to a pace that felt comfortable and would pass a person once every half mile or so. I was watching the two leading women. Corey told me that the one I was pacing would win. There was another fast lady about 50 meters up. I couldn't tell whether the one I was with was playing chess, or just running. In the end... she was playing chess. We came to the water stop and she bolted ahead and I never saw her again. I didn't reel in the other, but Corey picked the placement correctly. The winner beat me by a minute, all in the last 3.5 miles.
The 2nd half of the race was uneventful. I got passed by one person. I had about 20 meters to the person at my front, and 30-40 behind me. Coming in to home, with about 800 meters to go, we had to go around a muddy spot and take a hard left. I took the turn and heard a thud and some god awful noise. I thought it was a wild animal. Turned out the guy behind me took a digger and broke his ankle.
Really pleased with my time and overall placement. 28th of 355 overall, 5th of 53 in my age group. Chicked x 2. I would have had to run 2 minutes faster to be top 3... that wasn't going to happen.

Went for a cool down jog with Corey. Made it about 50 meters and both calves started to twitch and dance.... called it a day and went for the complementary pizza and beer.

Lazy run with Clark... stopped to smell the flowers... actually, stopped to check on some of the Seagate signage that is looking a little haggard. So, technically, I was working while I was running....
Good to catch up with Clark. He had been up in the Tower Area with the family camping.
