Ski to Beer V

Rainbow Unicorn and I decided to get some extra k's in. We started at the finish and skied "no poles" back to the start taking all the short cut routes, then did a poles ski of the back nine to really get the heart pumping.

XC Skiing 2:18:45 intensity: (16:16 @0) + (27:16 @1) + (20:40 @2) + (33:21 @3) + (35:43 @4) + (5:29 @5) 21.18 km (6:33 / km) +608ft 6:17 / km

Ski to beer V continued.

Hooked up with the larger group for a good social ski. pretty slow at first, keeping everyone together. Sped up once the short cuts came in and we had to ski a little harder to keep everyone from waiting.

Wirth is in the best condition I have ever skied it. Grooming and snow cover is awesome!

Plenty of Schnaaps stops for those who wanted some. I think I fell 5-6 times working on glide... and how to get up fast....

Last night of Loppet Nordic Racing Club. :-(

I paid for this last year and didn't use it. This year I got my money's worth. I learned a little on technique. I think I get more from mimicking friends and small tips technique wise. What I did learn was interval skiing, what to focus on when I am gassed, starts, crowd skiing, etc.

Tonight, we did relays. One long relay where both partners ski at the same time, but different loops. You meet back at the start, then ski the opposite loop. I was the leader off the start line. Got passed half way through my loop, then maintained the rest. tagged my partner, skied the 2nd loop and was the 2nd person to complete overall. My partner came in a few minutes later for the last spot on the podium for our team.!!!

Then we did short sprint relays which were sequential. one loop each no poles, then one loop each double pole, then repeat for a total of 4 laps each. Since it was valentines day, we had to hug at the hand off. Lucky me.... draws a dude for a partner.... :-/

Soccer 1:00:00 [3]

Last place team (mine) vs. first place team (Andrei). Both teams have minimal subs. Both teams are playing the son of one of the other players.

We start with a little back and forth, and end up on their end. our player makes a cross, their player trips on it, own goal with a sprained ankle.

A fluke... until we get another goal in another scrappy fashion.

We give them a couple of good chances, but they can't mount a come back.

They have a poor clear off of a corner and I bury a left footer! Yay me. Back to leading scorer for my team.

They start to fall apart. Long story short. we win 6-1, I get two goals. Andrei didn't play due to a bad leg.

Ski session at Wirth with Monika Sattler. Was going to do an instructional session, and we did a few drills, but mostly a social ski. Worked a lot on glide, V2 technique. a little V1, but stayed away from big hills.

This was supposed to be a L1 to L2 ski, but how do you manage that going from the start of powerline to highpoint.... Alex and I managed a good slower tempo ski, but had to wait on Bob and Joel several times. Bob yard saled once... superman to keep from going in to the woods.

Started to mist at highpoint, making glasses useless. It didn't take long for the trail to ice over, which made for some fast skis.

Alex decided to quit at OO, while Bob, Joel and I continued on. It started raining ice pellets about 2 k in to the ski. This eventually transitioned in to snow (3-4" by the time we finished) which made it impossible to ski. Glasses were useless and the last 10 k felt like your eyes were being exfoliated. I would close my eyes on the downhills and just open them every 5s to make a course adjustment. It feels good to have skied the entire course minus the flats, beginning and end.

Some good technique work. I think I know the source of much of my V1 frustration.
