Orienteering race 1:50:00 [3] *** 7.0 mi (15:43 / mi)
spiked:5/16c shoes: Altra Lone Peak

Worst performance ever on a MNOC course. Nerstrand always seems to provide a level of frustration, but this meet was a peak.

No issues with #1, saw it from 50 meters away. Good route to #2, but I questioned my location as I crossed the stream and went East instead of west, (just to check) and lost some time. #3, I was within 20 meters, but circled it because I could not see it in the brush. #4, spike.... with a good route choice, and then came 5. With my lost Garmin, the world will never know how bad it truly was. This was approximately a 350m leg, that I spent 35 minutes on. The first confirmation of my location came at the waste water treatment pond on the eastern boundary of the park. The 1.5 k leg back to #5 from there is no picnic either.... When I finally found it, I spiked it, or was tempted to.... I felt like ripping it off the course and grinding it in to the ground. Not very presidential.

6 was a good control location. Lots of little shallow reentrant features to trip you up. I was a bit north coming in to the control, but adjusted OK. 7,8,9. Minor parallel errors on the first and last, 8 was easy. The rest of the course went reasonably well, but I was gassed from the frantic chicken without a head running on #5. Better next time.

The splits show that I got triple chicked.... nice job ladies!
