XC Skiing 45:20 intensity: (25:20 @3) + (20:00 @4) 10.8 km (4:12 / km) +410ft 3:58 / km

I got my skis back from Gear West. I couldn't tell that I had damaged them. They felt a lot better than the skis I rented at Hyland this past Sunday. The ski felt good, but the snow was slow. I focused on staying over my skis and found that I was moving fairly well and the heart rate stayed down. I forgot my strap, so that data is just by feel.

XC Skiing 16:35 [3] 3.39 km (4:53 / km) +54ft 4:46 / km

Lake loop with Andrei. I finally learned the Birkie shuffle, which was on the agenda for the evening. I have 0% confidence that I will be able to skate without waiting at any of my races and I guess this is the bring your HR down and keep moving on the hills way to deal with the crowds. Taught it to Andrei, who of course had to show how fast he can go with the new method.... :-) Toes got cold and we went home.

Soccer 55:00 [3]

Close soccer game that ended with a 1-0 win. Both teams hit the post at one point. We definitely had more chances, just couldn't finish.

Hyland with the intent of building some confidence back up after I felt so off of form from Saturday... Rental boots, rental skis... yikes. I was looking to boost confidence and I find myself wearing boots that look like a weed whip hit them and skis with big chunks of wax on the base... I guess it is better than sitting at home thinking you are better than your last ski..... Anyway, the skis are handed out based on weight. I fell in to the 150+ category. So, I get the same skis as any adult male. I had issues at first getting a push, the skis kept sliding out. This persisted, but to a lesser extent at times. I could never get a hard push. The most aggravating was that the boot/binding interface seemed off. I would set the ski down and the boot would ride on top of the binding at the heal. Is this somewhat common? I haven't experienced it before. My intent was to do two laps, but the issues put me off of that track.

So, one lap. One fall when a woman on the north hill decided to take a wider stake with her poles and caught my ski. There was a dude skiing down the trail against the flow, so I had to favor that side. 33:33:33% on the blame.

I think the intent of boosting my confidence was met, if only slightly. Skied OK for periods of time. Motor kept going.
