Orienteering (Hanging flags ) 1:30:00 [2]
shoes: VJ Falcons

Hung 4 of the event flags and 6 for the sprint course. Had fun putting up the obstacles on the sprint and watching the confused faces of people staring at the sprint map.

Orienteering 25:00 [3] **
spiked:2/2c shoes: VJ Falcons

Control retrieval. I took the two controls nobody wanted. Spiked them both with no compass.

OTNT warm up jog.

Orienteering 31:49 intensity: (16:49 @3) + (15:00 @4) *** 2.87 mi (11:05 / mi) +69ft 10:50 / mi
spiked:9/13c shoes: VJ Falcons

OTNT set by Mike and Julia. My first time in this park and on this map. A great setting for a sprint course. This was intended to be an 8k+ course, but I guess Mike had a scale issue, so he decided we would run the course twice. Once with a map, and the 2nd time as a memory O.

I had some minor bobbles on the first time through. Looking for a powerpole in a sea of lamp posts, looking for a really small trail in a forest of burrs and weeds, and looking for a trail in a tumble of landscape debris. It was fun, but I wasted a good portion of time. Came back covered in burrs, almost as bad as Tom, but I had to stop and pull a lot of them off they were bugging me so badly.

Orienteering 23:21 [4] *** 2.66 mi (8:47 / mi) +58ft 8:37 / mi
spiked:11/13c shoes: VJ Falcons

A good run on the memory O. I had a few "where was that control?" moments, but fairly clean. 9 minutes of the run with the map. Much better route selection.

Note

A little comic relief from the Camp Ripley weekend.

5-6: I was tracking well, but couldn't see the control behind the trees....
11-12: Started down the correct spur, corrected to the wrong spur and ended up running all 4 on this cool hill.
17-18: Noodles on the brain?
20-21: When in doubt, run the wrong way "moderately" fast...

Ripley Confusion

Soccer 35:00 [4]

A fun game against an 0-5 team. I think they recruited an extra player and keeper. We clearly dominated the control of the ball, but their keeper was a wall. Chris had a sleepy night in goal, except for one hair raising 2-1 that he somehow stood on his head and stopped. In the end, we won 2-0 and I got my second goal of the season on a deflected shot.
