Adventure Race (Halloween-O) 3:40:00 [3] **
spiked:21/22c

OTNT sponsored "scavenger hunt" in costume. Clark, William, Chris and I dressed as cowboys and 1 scary cowgirl to complete this event. The estimate was low 20's for cycling and 6-8 miles for running. A mix of google map, city bike trails and an aerial map. We had fun this event. I was good to do an AR after almost three months off. The event organizers did a great job. One control was mis-placed, but all others were spot on. Everyone enjoyed themselves and we all had a little lunch post "event".

Running (Treadmill) 40:00 [3] 5.4 mi (7:24 / mi)
max:150 weight:188lbs shoes: Newtons

Clark only gave me 5 minutes warning today. He was running at 7.1 mph and we agreed that we would run 45 minutes or until I caught him. I did 35 minutes at 8 mph and the last 5 minutes at 9 mph. Finally caught him. 890 calories burned. About 1/4 of what I ate in Halloween candy last night....

Medium run with Clark. He called, gave me 10 minutes to meet him in the fitness center. Nice to run with somebody.

Orienteering race 1:49:42 [4] **** 7.3 km (15:02 / km) +590ft 13:23 / km
spiked:10/16c shoes: VJ Falcons

I didn't ever really feel comfortable on the map for this event. Poor route choice on 1 made me push hard on 2 to make time up. Got off course and messed up an easy control. #3 was the 2nd longest leg, ended up 250 meters west of the control, swallowed my pride and asked an older woman for location assistance at her control. She helped me, I reset and immediately ran 180 degrees off course. The next few points went OK, until the longest leg (#8) which I boomed as well. Completed the rest of the course without incident. Not the result I wanted but a fun end and course to complete the weekend.

Orienteering (Control Retrieval) 40:00 [2] ** 2.0 km (20:00 / km) +150ft 17:57 / km
spiked:6/6c

Helped with control retrieval on the western side of the course. 4 of 6 controls were on the Red course. Amazing how easy they are to find when you walk and have been there before......
