XC Skiing 18:24 intensity: (57 @0) + (24 @1) + (3:13 @2) + (9:35 @3) + (4:15 @4) 4.1 km (4:29 / km) +148ft 4:15 / km

Warm up Ski at Hyland. I was meeting Corey to give some tips / drills for skate skiing. I went out early to look for a place that was "safe" for lessons. The man made loop was boiler plate.... I am glad they have a piston bully. They told me they groom 6 hours a night...

XC Skiing 1:17:08 intensity: (8:01 @0) + (39:06 @1) + (25:26 @2) + (4:35 @3) 7.89 km (9:47 / km) +222ft 9:23 / km
ahr:108 max:138 shoes: Salomon Equipe 10 #2

Drills with Corey. We started on the lake loop. Even though there was a lot of melt, the snow was better, i.e. not ice. Did some Heel taps (Dorothy Drill), V1 drills, step turns and weight transfer drills. We ended up at the top of the blue loop on the man made snow. The downhill to the Jan's place was a sheet of ice as soon as the sun went down.

Back out to Hyland with the neighbors. Some hard skiing, but a lot of loafing around. Good times though.

Easy ski with my neighbor Ladric. I am going out tomorrow with his wife, which will be a bit more technical. Former Korte podium earner... Snow is awesome right now.

Worked on glide a lot today. V2 with long glides, really focusing on committing to the ski.

Wow!!!! Hyland is the bomb! I had my headlamp, but forgot it in the car so decided to just do what was open of the new man made loop. Lots of changes, and they are grand! I can't believe I have this place available for my lunch hour.

I started the first loop and quickly came across Joe from work, probably the most die hard skier that I know. We skied two loops together, then he took off for home. I did a loop by myself, then was going to call it a day, but came across Jim Mullins, just arriving, and went out for another loop. Fantastic.

The snow is 3-4' deep in areas, and probably 2' at the low end. All the little humps and dished trails are gone. Nothing but bully pistoned bliss!

I believe they will open the remaining section of man made trail this weekend, doubling the loop.

Soccer 1:00:00 [3]

Seagate soccer. Our first non-win... a 2-2 tie. Tough game. Not overly physical, but fast. Good fun. Still way on top of the leader board.

XC Skiing 1:30:00 [2]
shoes: Salamon S-Lab Equip 10

Loppet ski training. Still fighting a cold. Good times though. Completely different group from last year. I didn't recognize anyone. Dana is in the Thursday group. She showed up last night, so there was a familiar face, but she won't be a regular.

Basic skills training. Nothing to hard or Aerobic. It was good to get the skis strapped on.

Soccer 40:00 [3]

Cooter's Garage. 1-0 loss. The other team scored on me... I thought I had the player contained, his shot went under my foot and caught the far side of the net... We still struggle to put the ball in the net.

Wowza... heading into Night O after draining half a bottle of Nyquil, not ideal, but I actually felt OK after 11 hours of sleep on the Silver Bullet.

Just a short little 8+ K Night O course...

OCIN runs a tight ship. The course and organization was top notch. we stayed right at Hueston woods, with the start and finish both within 300 meters of our room! Great situation for a cold night of running through the snow. The first two controls went well, then I tried to get cute with control #3 in the frisbee golf area... I thought I could just follow the hole layout, but I should have just chosen a closer attack point and a bearing. The control was in a ditch near a golf "hole" and suddenly every hole needed investigating, as there were a lot of controls in this area. Followed this poor route with a really poor choice to get to the next control. Big time loss here. Not sure how I got so far off. The next few controls went OK, then came the monster control. No real issues, but a tough long distance control. Patience won out. The 8th control... I was a little west in my travel and thought I was east... spent some time looking the wrong way. 9 and 10 were easy, but 11 killed me. 500 meters of green. I chose to fight until the power lines, then follow them to a path to get through the rest of the green. 10 meters short of the power lines, I hit the raspberry bushes. Stopped me dead. I tried to fight through without losing an eye, or seriously cutting my face. My head was caught, legs and arms... I lost my map three times. Not fun. Eventually I came through. The rest of the run was tough, but manageable. It wasn't clean clean, but I was able to reorient ok and get a little confidence back.

Another win for my Seagate Team! We are now 4-0, with a 4-2 win. The team we played tonight had a lot of talent and some young fast guys, but the old farts emerged victorious. I had two goals, and almost a third. Fun clean game. Shantytown to celebrate the win.

Running 38:13 [3] 5.0 mi (7:39 / mi)
shoes: Altra Instinct 1.5

Tread mill run. No soccer....

1% incline

I did two miles at 7.5 mph, 1 at 8, .5 at 7.5, .5 at 8, .25 at 7.5, .25 at 8, .5 at 7.5

It didn't seem like either speed was taxing. Just mixing it up. I would go faster, but the distracting TV is at a 20 deg. angle, which makes it hard to stay centered on the treadmill. I don't want to be a you tube fail blog video...

Run with Biz and one of his GIS buddies. Needing a support group to get out and exercise lately. MoBiz team always willing to comply.

Got a nice up close and personal view of the new Hyland trail system!!! Wow, this is going to be fantastic. Exceeds my expectations.
