Great fun on a course set by Dave Swanson. Nav was fairly easy as long as you stayed on the map. Nice woods. Good spot for a ski-O

Minnegoat -- 2014 Edition

Awesome day in the woods at the MNOC Minne-goat. My first time at Straight Lake park and it lived up to the hype. Nice open woods allows for good nav and movement (if you have the legs/lungs). First control was a doozy. Really complex map reading for the first control. 2nd control was marginally better. I tucked in and just followed for these two and then focused on my pace/the map for the rest of the event. I ended up running most of the event with Ian. We had different approaches and took off on different plans, but ended up next to each other for a long stretch. He dropped me after control #17 when I came down with some serious cramps and decided to limp it in.

Great course set by Shawn McKinlay. Regret not having skips.... :-( but it worked out.

First time on wheels in weeks. The calf bothered me a little over the weekend. i needed to do a little tuning on the bike before the weekend, so i repacked the BB, cleaned the drive train, adjusted the front derailleur and took it for a check ride. Fingers crossed.... everything worked great.

Note

Had a CT scan of my heart today as a baseline as there is a history of coronary issues in my family. Initial results from the tech, not final, is that my heart looks great. I asked if they can detect other anomalies with the scan and mentioned my chest pain since playing ultimate Frisbee on Friday. Broken rib....

Fun Course at Battle Creek Regional Park. I was the first one out, and I got my fair share of burrs and scratches.

I ran clean, but the control locations were fairly simple. It is what i needed for a no training event.

I think I was in the military when I last played ultimate. Fun group of work people (21 of us) played today. Short sprints is definitely different than endurance running. Felt OK on the calf. We will see how tomorrow feels... I dove for one catch (missed) and landed with my hand beneath my chest. Messed up my pinky and bruised something in my chest... Fun though.

Scored at Eric's warehouse sale! I have been looking for a compact crank set so I don't have to keep switching between my two bikes, one normal and one compact. I found the cranks. Two sets. One was bb30 (won't work) and the other was a SRAM Red compact with the right bearing type. 40% off! Sweet!!!

First run from home in 6+ weeks... Calf showed just a hint of wanting to give me issues. Hopefully a ride tomorrow will work out some kinks for another short run on Thursday.

My Garmin 405 was non-functional tonight so I put my 500 (bike GPS) in my back pocket... It must not have liked it too much.
