I tried to get my neighbor to run the Lake Harriet 10k (Drumstick Dash) at 8 AM today. She said she couldn't make it six miles because of an iffy knee. So I said we should just run from home and do 1 lap. She agreed, but then mapped it out and figured it was over 5 miles... on to my games. So, I ran from home, she met me at the beach, we ran a slow lap, and then I ran back.

Glutes are sore from yesterday.

Another tough game. Really having trouble getting things to click as a team. We had a few moments, but nothing productive. Cooters Garage has three straight losses, all 2-0 --> We can't score.... Not going to win like this.

Treadmill run at work.

First 4 miles at 8 mph, .5 miles at 8.5, .25 at 9, and then the last quarter at 8.

Felt pretty good. Not relishing a lot of treadmill time, we need some snow....

Seagate Soccer

5-3 win! I had the first goal. We were sub-less, so had to play the entire match. We have a good, unselfish team this year. Lots of passing and spreading out the field. I think this will be a fun year, even if our success tanks.

Decided to take advantage of the free yoga at work. Nice class with about 12 people. The instructor seems very good. She gave me lots of aids to help stretch out my tight being.

Felt pretty good afterward. Class is twice a week. Hope to make it to at least 6 sessions a month.

2nd game of the CSC league.

We played a good squad with a lot of subs. Their women were especially competent. Ended up a 2-0 loss on two iffy goals. The first, they kicked the ball when our goalie had possession, 2nd one rattled up and down from crossbar to floor, the ref called it good.... from the half-line. I was right there and didn't think it went over.

Anyway, running around like an old man, trying to keep up.

Seagate Turkey trot.

Almost didn't compete due to the bumps and bruises from last night. After a warm up jog, I decided to give it a go, knowing that I could always back off. I led the first lap, but ended up running the last two and a half with a friend, who sniped me at the end by 3 seconds. Just slightly over 5k... have to see whether the 3.1 distance puts me in 20 minute range....

MNOC Veteran's Day Night O. could have been called frigid-O.

Mass start with two long courses, rendered the same with a split butterfly loop.

Ran OK, had some issues with headlight, map bounce.... slow down, read, then run...

Two big booms... One, I saw the control flash, then went to the hilltop and could not locate it. Had to relocate to a trail, saw the control flash again, and did not lose sight of it this time.

The 2nd was a bit of a bingo control. The bag was half compressed, on the ground, in a area of tall grass around a marsh. the marsh was dry, so not easy to locate the edge. I looped it once, used a trail to relocate, then went back, looped again and then punched.

In the middle, tripped and took a pretty good shot to the ribs. See how I feel tomorrow for the 5k.

Took 5th overall, but about 10 minutes behind 4th. Not pleased....

Down in St. Louis to visit family. Silky Chrome sent me a exercise invite, which I was able to fit in. Bonus, she come to my brothers bonfire and met some work colleagues whom she had only known by name.

Good visit, short, but good.

Seagate Soccer: Week 1

The teams have become significantly younger.... Seagate embarked on a lower the average age initiative 18 months ago and it shows. The two players I interacted with during this game were 23 and 24..... We had a good start to the season with a 3-2 win. I notched one goal, and had two more good opportunities. Still rusty, and definitely sore after two games this week.

First soccer game of the season. A lot of rust left on the field by the team... We ended up with a two - zero loss. I fanned on a perfect lead from Biz. The team had a few other opportunities, but couldn't cap.

I am usually sore the day after a game. Yesterday I was sore after my first substitution....

First roller ski of the year. I have been averaging 1/year... so it may be the last also.

4 falls. two skinned knees and one skinned elbow to show for the fun. It was good to hang out with my buddy Alex for the session. Getting prepped for some Hayward time!
