IMRA Brockagh
Raced up, cruised down. We’re playing it safe before woc, so no racing the injury-riddled descents.
Struggled a bit to get working early on along the Wicklow way, and losing some places on the climb along the switchbacks. Paul k came up by me then, so tried to keep a rythym and hanging in there got me going a bit better.
Had one or two more come past me in the open, but once we hit the heather, on the final bit of ascent, I got a shout of “and it’s here long-legged Moran will eat you up”, which I wasn’t convinced by, but it got me going, and I went through a good chunk of the guys who’d passed me.
Not sure exactly where I summitted, top 10 pretty sure. Counted 9 passed me on the descent so I’ll work it out when I get results.

Obviously a little sad not to get to race the best part, and this was a lovely soft trail down most the way, and quite even, and then onto fire roads, but it felt very responsible, and I knew the best part of the session had been done.
Reckon I could have had 3rd or 4th in me today, but I ran 51:08 for this course in 2016, and its hard to imagine I could have gotten much below 54 today, but who knows.
Pretty happy with the climb, and feel I’m getting back into shape.
