Highland Wolf Long

Started out alright, was clean through the first 4, and moving okay, although splits show I just ain't competing on that no.3, uphill needs work, but that felt alright, dang.
Ended up catching c.hill at 4 which was a pleasant surprise.
Still, relatively clean through the first section although 30sec miss leaving each of 5 & 6, and I reckon my route to 7 is probably pretty weak. Straight is great.
Happy enough though up till 12 or so.
Out to the power lines for 13, and then relatively straight from the track, lost some time entering & leaving the control 'cos some boy was looking for help, but only maybe 10-15sec each side.

But I was starting to struggle now as the terrain changed and my fitness waned, and was bleeding time in here. Got through to 17 or so, but was tired, and had a nightmare on 18. Pretty much not reading my map, or checking my compass, thought I was close, but I was far right, and made a parallel error relocating. Came back up, sussed it out, but still missed a little right going in again & found it in what felt like a weird spot. +6 and a bit minutes. Oops. c.hill must have gone back by me here.

After this I was tired and motivation had dropped, so I just walked + jogged it home slowly.

Some positives early on, but then a bit shit, but basically the same comment as yesterday despite the worse result; I know I'm not fit right now.

Ankle feels weak though.

Highland Wolf Middle (+4:23 to Nixon)

Wanted to get another good middle under the belt, and ensure I can still orienteer.
Started relatively hard, but had some doubts that maybe I was re-entrant short on 1, in the end I was right, but maybe 10sec dropped.
Fine on 2, banana'd both sides of the line to 3, and struggling on the hill, but got it okay, 15sec.
Missed left on 5, 15sec.
Fine through the next section (maybe 5sec on 9, and 10sec on 10).
Poor line to 11, and leaving it, but still getting the controls okay.
Stopped short on 15, 15sec, and missed left on 17, 10sec.
On 18 I wanted to take the high path, but couldn't see it, and took the middle path looping back up which certainly wasn't ideal, maybe 10-15sec, but I shouldn't have taken that route when adjusting.

Orienteering alright. Not making serious mistakes, but not getting stuff very cleanly either.
Physically pushing, but struggling with the pace, lungs were working hard, and I was hanging on in the last section, despite not having a particularly high pace.

Highland Wolf Sprint (+1:25 to Smithard)

Started pretty hard through the forest, but feeling alright, relatively clean as well, but dragged wide on 3 through the light green (looks like everyone must have had similar issues).
Probably not ideal to 5, staying left on the first path, but only maybe 5sec.
Went right to 7 which I imagine was good.
Then basically suffered through the remainder of the urban section which wasn't too tricky.
Good fun, but struggling to move well. That's okay.

Trying to do the most Edinburgh run I could think of.
Out for a lap of the seat, and then back for a lap of the meadows.
But maybe I should be thinking more Braids?
