Leinster 3 day - day 3 (reverse chasing start)

Started in no-man's land with Darren, CillĂn, & Colm 10mins in front of me, and Eoin & Will Critchley roughly 4-5mins behind me.

Started a little scrappily. Took a branch to the eye immediately & spent 30s composing myself to 1. Dropped to a lower set of boulders on 2, and was short losing another 30-45s.
Just general scrappiness on 3-5, and was surprised not to see Critchley or Eoin behind as I headed up to 6.

On the long oul haul to 8, Will caught me, and went by far too quickly. Didn't know where I was reaching the top of the hill, but caught sight of Corbett moving into 10, which sorted me out nicely, and moved down into 8 easily.
Fine up on top, just sluggish.

Got moving a little after the water, going down to 12, and in control, feeling alright and caught sight of Will up ahead as I went towards 13, and Corbett with him.
Wanted to be fluid to 14 so I could give myself a chance of catching back up if they messed up or got tired. Took a high line, and got it confidently, but the rest of the forest sapped the motivation from me and I ploughed through the remaining branches with lots of scrappy mistakes, ah well.

Again, not a great day, but it's all about that upward curve and these last two days I have been a little stronger outside of the scrappy forests.

Leinster 3 day - day 2

Scrappy early on, time losses on #1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
Better in the middle, and then scrappy again in the forest.
Physically, still struggling to get moving mostly, but was able to move a little more freely on descents & occasional flats - this was positive news.
Navigating better, and generally a little stronger than last week.

Didn't get into the map particularly well early on, went round for 1, which was maybe worse anyway, and ended up just above the boulder trying to figure out which one it was.
Was slow to 2, but clean, but don't think I lost heaps, evidently wrong though.
3, I had a decent plan to stay low and look for the re-entrant, but drifted high, got confused and stopped short, 4 just hesitant.
5 lacking confidence and stopped early, and 6 just bad lines & slow moving.

To 7, came across Christian, c.hill and James. Wow. Got it okay, but slow.
Wee miss on 8. Was tucked in behind Colm and Christian for the next while then, some mental rest and happy to leave them work.
To 14 I felt Colm was starting to break, so I moved up and was fluid descending to catch up. Took over on 15, thought I was accurate, but ended up one set of crags too high, and lost some having to drop.
Fine 16, climbed an unnecessary crag on 17, and fine to 18.
Struggled up to 19 & 21, but neither Christian nor Colm got away as they missed 20 worse than I did.
Colm was ahead at 21, but I made another move, and was fluid 22-25, to break away.

Into the forest, got confused & mistaked by the tapes, on 26. Very slow and scrappy over the remainder, but gor it done at least.

Some more positives.

Leinster 3 day - D1 Glendoo
Solid technically, but struggled to find any physical form, and battled the terrain throughout.
Smashed by Conor, as was everyone else. This man has given a masterclass to the rest of us Irish this past month.

Been trying to train through these recent races so I can whip myself back into shape quick enough, but it's easy to doubt yourself when you feel really bad out there regularly.
Today, stiffness from Wednesday's gym-hillrace combo could have been avoided, but there's too much work to be done, and I'll have to remember that.

Decent performance, alright result.
Tough race, nice course.
Steady on the climb, then constantly pushing on the rolling remainder, but unable to catch the boys.

respectably close to conor, but given it was a semi-reasonable technical performance, still got smashed.
Lost 30s on 5, and 20s on 18, and multiple <10s issues.
