Note
(rest day)

Easy week done, achilles & legs feeling better for it.
At a transition stage now whereby I'd like to get back into mileage, but I'm conscious I could have a few niggles, so will see how things are over the next cĂșpla days.
Being a little over-sensitive, but I hate setbacks bruh
11 PM

Running 25:18 [1] 5.03 km (5:02 / km)

Slow & easy.
Was keen for a bit of grass, so went for bushy park. But didn't have a torch and got well creeped out briefly.
Pulled myself together though and toughed it out #champ

Running warm up/down 14:13 [2] 2.65 km (5:22 / km)

Running 28:52 [5] 7.97 km (3:37 / km) +120m 3:22 / km

Intervarsity X-C - 33rd.
Sligo racecourse.
Ran well. Happy with how it went and that.

Start seemed conservative, however I had in my head planned to go quite hard early so as not to repeat colours. Josh popped out by me, but I got a nicer line and ended up a bit ahead then.
Wound up in a small group a bit off the lead pack. Worked between groups over the next while, consistently passing a few people. Stronger than most through the muddy section, and in particular on the hill. Slowly climbed through the field. Last lap or two started to pull in particular people I reckoned I could get.
Had the fear on last lap when I heard puddle splashes behind me not too far out. But repeatedly notched it up, even on the hill, to avoid a sprint finish. In the end wasn't far from the bucko in front, but no need for a sprint as the lads either side of me were a bit too much away.

Weak team from UCD, I ended up 5th scorer, which I was delighted with. Grabbed a bronze medal for the team with it.
Said in January I'd be delighted with top 40 - successful race.
Goal for my time in UCDAC was to count for the X-C team one year, and this was a respectable result, so feel like I earned it.
Surprised to end up in front of Josh cos I know he's in good shape, but apparently so am I.

Running 33:24 [2] 7.6 km (4:24 / km)

In the end just did a run.
'Decent clip'.

Running 36:43 [2] 8.03 km (4:34 / km)

Getting back into some actual running.
Loose all over.
Stitched up / bad stomach cramps I had to battle through along the dodder, but just about kept it going. Had to dig back to my Templeogue AC U-14 days where they taught us how to fight off a pain mid-race. Basically deep breaths is what I remember.

Moving nicely.
