Note

A quick note on IOC amidst exams madness, hopefully will be of use in future.

Given 2 runs since the JK, and generally how training has been since January I shouldn't be disappointed, but when the potential was there for much more it's of course a let down.

IOC Long - I started quite well with minor misses in the first half of under a minute. Bad mistake on 13 that a lot missed, 2mins. But whatever about that, I was feeling good physically around 17, but I didn't handle the onset of tiredness / cold well at all at the end, and began lazy orienteering and lost 4-5mins unnecessarily. Physical shape good mostly.

IOC Relay - I was pretty devastated after this really. All I have really wanted over the last couple of years is to be in the race, with a chance, during the relay. This year, I got a bit of luck, and ended up in front leaving the spectator, so the race was in my control, I could see the 2 remaining tricky controls, and on the second I just lost concentration and didn't check my compass. That's life.
I felt really quite bad physically out on the course, and neither of the lads had clean races either, so it should just be good to be up there, but it's still so disappointing.

So long as you learn from it.

On the positive side, with three poor races, and not feeling the best physically, this should really be a worst case scenario for the team in terms of races, so I'm optimistic that we'll get another shot.

I usually finish IOC wanting to be better physically, but right now I just want to put together a consistent base block.
