Intervarsity X-C - 64th.
Results. I'm down as Tommy Moran, as he's the lad I filled in for.
UCDAC were going for the win, and so there was no issue for me, 'cos there was no way I was going to count.
Decent warm up with the lads, and a definite atmosphere of excitement around.
I didn't start too hard, I've never been a fast starter... kept it steady through lap 1, and kept it going.
Tough-ass course. Some uphill, a bit on the side of a slope, and a lot of serious mud, really enjoyable course, suited me well enough too.
Through laps 2 - 5 I took pursuit of some fellow UCD runners I didn't want to let beat me, and slowly began to pull them back, I was feeling good and tried to work hard through the tougher sections. Passed people the whole way through the race, and when I caught them, most of them couldn't stick it. Caught John, and then Aodhagan, but Aodhagan wouldn't let go. We then caught Conor who was dying, and battled on on the last lap. He was a bit ahead and I really wanted to catch him, but just couldn't make those pace changes. And when I picked it up with 500 to go, I was really dying by the finish, caught his shoulder but unfortunately not enough.
The team came 2nd, a bit disappointed to have DCU do it again, and nick it from 'em, but still mighty craic was had after regardless.
