Running 1:14:20 [2] 8.6 km (8:39 / km) +300m 7:22 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 - 2013

Was supposed to be a long run. I was dead though. Legs really heavy, probably just after the week of work I'd say. Really struggling, lacking energy in my legs and there was an explosion of pain when I tried to run any uphill.
Just did the brockagh loop and left the others away to do Scarr, while I sunbathed. Turns out the whole thing I planned was probably like 25-30km, bit cray, but would be sweet to do sometime.
Jonny and Conor running pretty well.

Wicklow Way relay Leg 5.

Last few days have been shit because of getting back from work so late. I need to be more structured and organised if I want to successfully train while working.

Anyway, late enough last night, but I still felt alright after the drive to glendalough, kinda pumped. Started my leg grand oul pace, didn't know the route so had a map in my pocket. Unfortunately turned left up the hill about 100m too early and ended up on the wrong side of the river on some crappy little trail which soon extinguished itself. Had to hop a fence and some crags, cross the river and climb a few crags, but it was probably only a minute or two lost. Kept slogging up the hill.
Always been slow on the uphill and I was today, just kept slogging away. After 45mins of climb I hit the top, and there was some gorgeous downhill. beautiful stuff, and a gorgeous day, I felt obliged to run topless from early on. When I hit the track along the side of the hill my momentum was pretty good, so I kept going fast enough. Didn't push hard on this final track at all, but kept running pretty quickly. Didn't think it would make much of a difference really, and it wasn't a totally serious team, so I took it a bit chilled. Unfortunately, at the very last corner, I misread the walkers sign, reading it from the side of the people coming back up the hill, and instead of horse-shoeing, I went straight on down the wrong way. Knew it was weird and checked it out about 2-3mins up the track, and headed back, but another 5mins or so lost.

No idea how the 3rock team did, but hopefully not too bad.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Kinda ill. Not bad but. Had a bit of a spre throat all day yesterday. And when I woke up today, it was a bit worse, so I decoded I'd just leave the run.

Running warm up/down 4:00 [2] 0.78 km (5:08 / km)
shoes: Aasics Gel-Fuji Racer (Blue)

Apparently you can't drive across the dart line to irishtown anymore, so I parked up and ran from there. No time for other options!

Running 10:18 intensity: (5:00 @1) + (5:18 @4) 2.45 km (4:12 / km)
shoes: Aasics Gel-Fuji Racer (Blue)

Arrived at the track at 21:35 and it closed at 21:45, I had expected it to close at 22:00, so I had planned a short session anyway, but it was tighter than I expected.
Did the Ciaran O'Lionard type session, doing 20s on, 20s off. Except he did 15 on, 15 off, for 15mins, I did 10.
I was doing 100m reps, short jogging rest, then 100m back. HE was also doing 100m just faster.

Well, it was a nice session, not too tough, ideally I would have liked to have been able to have done 15mins, or I could be doing these quicker. But if I do them again I'll have that option. Nice run out, not too hard, but still nice.

This is the sort of session I could be doing in a park near me, but it's nice to have the 100m markers. Also planned on doing 12x600m, but I got home late.

Running 17:10 [1] 2.74 km (6:16 / km)
shoes: Aasics Gel-Fuji Racer (Blue)

Estimates. I don't really remember.

Note

Home late. Dinner late. 22:45 out the door.
10 PM

Running warm up/down 6:37 [2] 1.27 km (5:13 / km)
shoes: Aasics Gel-Fuji Racer (Blue)

Was a long day, was home late and tired. But I really didn't want to miss another day, so I just had to get out and do the session.
Short jog over to bushy park.

Running 30:00 intensity: (15:00 @3) + (15:00 @4) 7.02 km (4:16 / km)
shoes: Aasics Gel-Fuji Racer (Blue)

3x10mins reps, with 2min rest.
Again an aim towards the old speed endurance stuff. Hoping to do these reps easy enough in about 4:10-4:15 pace. Sort of session where you're still moving quickly, but it's not tough, you're not pushing, hopefully that should make avoiding injury easier, as the session isn't hard. Plan to build on the session over the coming weeks.

Had a stitch through a lot of the first, and it faded a bit over the next 2. But it wasn't too bad, and I just ignored it, but it might be part of the explanation for a slower first rep, maybe.

Distances:
2.33km, 4:19/km
2.36km, 4:14/km
2.34km, 4:17/km

So, slower than planned, but I can live with it. It's not much and it was late, and I was tired. Even if it was standing tired, not running tired.

Running warm up/down 7:08 [2] 1.24 km (5:45 / km)
shoes: Aasics Gel-Fuji Racer (Blue)

Nice jog home, some paperwork and finally bed!!
