Mullaghmeen - Brown course
Ran alright, decent enough for the most part. Felt my legs were a bit tired, but my pace felt pretty good a lot of the time. Navigation was pretty good a lot of the time. Mistakes on 12, and a bit more at the end too - 18 and 19. About 2-2:30mins lost on those.
Unfortunately also made a bad decision going through dark green. Got badly stuck, and lost ~5mins to the others, thought it was worse, but apparently not. Good session though.
Really brambly forest, legs are totally cut up.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [3] 0.77 km (6:30 / km)

4x 3min hill reps on Hellfire. Tough hill, really good session, with CillinC.
Running strong, felt decent, but was tough on the legs. Cillin running well too. There's hope for the 'ol boy yet.

Note

Back from the Czech Republic.
Sweet training camp. Heavy snow restricted the running at times, and unfortunately we missed the last Long Distance, which was the best looking map, but overall it was all really good.
Came 5th overall in the races in the M21A class. A cool result, not an important competition, but I've always performed really poorly outside of Ireland, so it's good that I'm finding my feet.
Orienteering was quite good overall, not faster than the likes of Eoin and Jack a lot of the time, but less mistakes on the Long.
Didn't feel I was running that well in the races, but I got the impression my overall strength was quite good. On a good day, it would be possible to be a decent amount faster.

Also worth noting that the Juniors are running really well. Probably the best overall team Ireland have ever sent to JWOC. Unlikely to get many best individual performances, but it's a strong team, and a young one too. They'll do well.

Cycling: Commute 30 [3]
(rest day)

Calves had troubles at times over the weekend, and they need a break from running, even if only for a day or two, hopefully one.

Orienteering 47:30 [2] 7.22 km (6:35 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 - 2013

Really nice training on some JWOC Relay relevant terrain. Cool area and way less snow, so it was great fun. Was feeling a bit tired after the weekend though, and took it easy. Few smallish mistakes, was a bit tricky.

Running warm up/down 4:30 [1] 0.75 km (6:00 / km)

Running 38:36 [5] 6.51 km (5:56 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 - 2013

Too much snow, so the long distance couldn't go ahead. Instead we ran an ungaffled mass-start race. Deep snow, so the leaders took the tough and the rest followed the trails. Was happy that I was able to keep up. Tough physically cos of the snow. First tough running race in ages.
