Running warm up/down 3:11 [1] 0.51 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 - 2013

Orienteering (Donadea Non-League) 54:54 [5] 10.1 km (5:26 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 - 2013

Ran pretty hard. Felt good in the forest, started to get a bit more tired towards the end, but that was because I pushed harder for some other parts just before that too. Was really flying to 18 and a few others, I felt. Dumped my hr to 3 because it was slipping off a little.
Unfortunately, although the course was easy, my orienteering has been getting really complacent lately because the maps are so easy. I rushed off on 10, didn't check my compass, went completely the wrong direction, and read myself at the wrong track junction. Subsequently faffed in that area, losing at least 5mins - killer. The stupidest of stupid mistakes. Otherwise was reasonably clean, lost 20secs to 9 tying my lace. And lost 30-45secs to 21 again bad direction. Can't think of anything else though.
An annoying problem to have, but not surprising, I've been orienteering a lot on the edge over the past couple of months. Slower or physical maps aren't a problem because you can't go that fast, but when the speed is up I've been getting lazy.

Still a lot of positives, felt good running-wise, and nailed a lot of the course, but gotta watch that problem. Results still ain't up, but I think Jonny won about 2mins ahead, Conor also finished just ahead of me.

Running 9:01 [1] 1.34 km (6:44 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 - 2013

Back out to pick up my hr monitor as a cool down.

(rest day)

Training in Sligo didn't go to plan at all. Weather and illness played their part, but morning laziness is what really killed us if you ask me. Still got some good runs in, and kept ticking over at the very least. Not a bad week, but not what I'd hoped for.
Did our standard pull-ups, plank and that from the trip stuff.

Running (Strandhill dune) 53:30 intensity: (37:00 @1) + (10:00 @3) + (6:30 @5) 7.7 km (6:57 / km) +200m 6:09 / km
ahr:145 max:178 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 - 2013

Ran hill reps with Cillín. Really tough hill. Working hard to get up. Kills your quads. Did 5 reps.
1st one I made it the whole way up without walking, 2nd one was almost all the way, after that it was the majority of it, but not as much. Such a killer session!

Running 1:18:09 [2] 12.3 km (6:21 / km) +327m 5:36 / km
ahr:143 max:185 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 - 2013

Run with Cillín and Laurence along the road and the up to Knocknarea. Pretty steep final ascent, but not as bad as I remembered (been a while). Felt good the whole way, ran with no torch though so had to steal Laurence's light for a bit, made for a tricky descent though! Cillín felt a bit tired so Laurence ran from the ascent onwards together, kept a better pace on the way home.

Run down to the dunes, around a bit and back to the house with cillín and Laurence. nice run, good and hilly, but easy pace. Felt decent on the uphills. Really nice night.
