Orienteering 29:34 [3] 3.61 km (8:11 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talons

Marsh O-L.
I've found I'm weak in this terrain, so I did some marsh training. And orienteering because, well, why not? Planned myself an easy control pick course. Visibility in these marshes is very low though, to give an idea, i could just see my boulder at 2 from where about halfway through the last yellow section of that route to 2, at the sharpish bend in the route. But visibility was a bit better in some parts, 7-11 was alright, but it began to get dark so it was bad again after. So yeah, good compass training in low visibility and rough terrain, and compass is still my weakest aspect, but is really improving. Happy with this training. At first I was really motivated to run only through the rough marshes and avoid the white, but as it went on I drifted towards nice stuff a bit more. Tough nonetheless, and pace versus effort reflected that! Fun, but cold on my feet!

Rock Running 10:45 [2] 1.06 km (10:08 / km)

This is a training I've decided to do, specifically aimed towards rocky areas in Slovakia where I felt slow while we were training there in July. So, just a run about, it's hard to get the pace high, I was actually trying to keep it sub 10, not easy. The area isn't quite as rocky as I remembered, but once I got going I found it was good actually, some areas a little less rocky than others, but some were very good. Fun training.

Orienteering 1:36:43 [3] 13.57 km (7:08 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talons

Saturday training with the club. I ran alone early on, apart from seeing people on the shorter courses, as I had woken up late, but I did catch up with Niklas, Johan, Julia, Sebbe and Magnus P between 13 and 14 at the drink's station. After this I navigated less which was no fun. We entered the marshy stuff and I felt weak in here, I'm still weak in the rough forest and marshes. I didn't want to hold them up though. I still navigated, but just to check up on others more so than actually orienteer, at least in the marsh I did that. It went pretty well though after the marsh, I was confused by the area around 25, I figured it out but had lost time. I couldn't see anyone as people had split up. I skipped to 28 hoping to catch them, but Niklas arrived at the 28th just after me, having lead most of the thing. So I just ran the loop with him and jogged back with him. Really fun training. I found the rough forest tough and the marshes too, but I wasn't tired at the finish, and Johan said he was wrecked. I think maybe I amn't pushing as much as him, just settling at an OK pace. But this isn't the time of year to be pushing too much either, so I might just leave that, we'll see. Also, looking back, although I felt weak, the pace in the marshes was not bad.

Quikie!

Also added yesterday's maps and comments down below if you want a look.

Anyone know what exact URL you use to upload the quickroute directly to DOMA? It hasn't worked for me on trying a few different ones, and it'd be a lot quicker than exporting a jpeg, possibly better quality too.

Session of Death

Distansträning with the OLGY. A rather large hill, a little over 100m bottom to top, but very steep. Ran up it 8 times in total. Good fun. Made it my goal to just run as much of the uphills as possible, worked well. Half of them I didn't have to walk on, I think. As you can see, ran over some parts a few times, probably a bit hard to understand the map, but you can see the hill! Felt good actually, had some sweets and stuff, but didn't need them, nor did I get the chance to have them really. Needed the torch for the forest descents and ascents. I ran with a good group, so they were faster on the ascents, but they took the descents easy, so catching up was not a problem. Got split from the remaining 3 on the last climb though so went my own way back and did a little loop extra as nobody else was back. Still feeling good. Hadn't noticed fitness improvements until now.

Orienteering 52:38 [2] 6.42 km (8:12 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talons

2 courses with the OLGY training.
Compass exercise and control flow / pick.
The compass exercise went well for the most part. I was running at a decent pace and navigating well. But I had 2 mistakes. The first I was distracted by pointing Johan in the right direction, and forgot how far I had run, saw some yellow and turned way too early. About 1min - 1.30mins. I could make sense of 5, probably because part of the map wasn't there, with it being compass training and all. Relocated quite well, but wasn't fully confident. Then good after that too. Compass Quickie!

Then the Control Flow course, I maybe felt a little tired, but I didn't run very fast anyways, but I had very few mistakes, just some small misses. Passed Johan being shadowed, and Julia, but with my not running very fast I never really got away from her, but the map contact was good. Control Pick Quickie!

Starting to feel much better about my orienteering here. I understand the terrain better and feel more confident in the terrain, there's always still work to be done though, those mistakes were avoidable.

Running 39:54 [5] 7.6 km (5:15 / km) +315m 4:21 / km

Forest hill intervals. A 900m loop, the first 500m (maybe a little more) was all flat path, and then uphill through a small forest trail, about 40-50m climb. Pretty cool, pretty tough though. the rest was a jog back through the forest, about 250m. I really like the whole not stopping thing, that's really good. We did 7 anyways. I didn't feel great, but that's probably just because it was tough, so my times did get slower! :)
Interval times: 357, 401, 412, 417, 432, 429, 432.
Rest times: 145, 142, 138, 139, 131, 135.
