Orienteering 1:37:30 [3] *** 11.16 km (8:44 / km) +300m 7:42 / km
spiked:14/18c shoes: Olway O' shoes

Mullaghmeen- Brown
Legs & Brain failed me big time today- just basically didn't want to run at any stage and couldnt read map on not too tricky a map or course
bad mistakes throughout and i pretty much walked after 12 but as Hugh said good to get the bad run out of the way before next week

Started grand, couldnt take map out of pile and bit of a mess up around 30secs. Took 2 a bit too quickly to try make up and then 3 took a path too early and lost about 2mins in wrong area. 4 was a disaster, i left in a bit of a bad direction planning on going straight but hit the path on my left thinking it was the one straight ahead i wanted, found an embankment which was also on the other one hit a field and the shit hit the fan! took time trying to make sense of it but no, finally went to path, checked direction and figured it out losing maybe 7/8mins. Hesitant to 5 and Niamh passed me and spiked it. We took different routes to 6 with her going around and me heading over the hill on the path, mine was better after getting stuck on numerous occasions losing maybe even 1minute and still having about 45secs ahead of her. Headed out quick enough, good route stopped again little short but had gained time. Took a bad line to 8 going through the semi undergrowthy stuff but corrected on path and didnt lose much, heard Niamh running really fast, took a quick glance to see Colm chasing me and all i could think as aww shit! Took a bad way into control and they both passed me. On the way to 9 was a little ahead again, Colm having left us, but nearly went too far on path and Niamh passed me, hear my legs were just kinda like what the fuck and i kinda walked, jogged through to 12, having been dropped by Niamh, who i accidentally passed on the way to 10 but she left me on the up, and also being dropped by Ger Butler on the way to 11. At 12 i began to walk, couple of small mistakes because i didnt really feel like concentrating and a little jogging but then ran 18 and run-in.

So ehh i guess thats a fairly brief summary.. if anyone wants the finer details just ask :P

Last time this happened i kept jogging and ended up winning :P (thanks to the intervarsites and and Eoin MP)

Running race 32:47 [5] 6.51 km (5:02 / km) +289m 4:07 / km
shoes: Asics Running shoes

Bray Head IMRA Race
finished 17th, Colm H 4th, Niall Mc 7th, Paul Mahon 8th, Dave 9th, Roar 19th, Mike Long 23rd, Pat Ryan 25th.. some good orienteering results!

Took beginning handyish as not to get too tired.. running/ walking/ struggling up the main hill.. an absolute beaut! Could see Roar ahead going a fair bit quicker then hit the flatish before a very gradual up again.. felt i could see Roar in distance and started to gain ground in an attempt to catch up..
Hit the second peak(if you could call it that) and then back down and a gradual descent.. thought here Roar was out of view but turned a corner at the only slight up on the return journey and he was just in front of me (about 100m) so kept steady effort and expected him to lose me on down but neither of us could really gain speed with lots of people.. so couldnt see him presumed again that he was gone and taking another corner realised he was even closer now.. we passed a few then basically got free at the steps near bottom.. just passed him on open road downhill before promenade..

pretty good run- 10secs better than last year but fairly tough session yesterday so pleased
