Note

Today was basically a repeat of yesterday, though possibly with a hair more wind gusto. The parking lot at Tie City certainly had more snow gusto to amuse people trying to enter and leave. And it looked like at some point the wind gusto had gotten over eager and had started pushing the porta-toilets around.

I ran until Sirius was well clear of the trees and easily visible.

Note

Skied and ran. Some fine winds were blowing bountiful snow across the parking lot and creating drifts in all the best places. Bonus since it was a race day, with two races and lots of people wanting to park in the gathering drifts.

Note

Skied and ran.

Note

Another couple of inches at least of new snow fell on the trails overnight, and along several stretches of trail signs had been newly posted warning of avalanche danger. It seemed like overkill, but maybe better safe than sorry.

I focused my activity on the Summit Loop, which up until now had been barely skiable anytime this season. Other people must have been focusing their activities elsewhere, because I saw nobody on the loop the entire time I was there.

Note

Trails were firmer today and corduroy had been added, and by the mid-afternoon some more snow was adding in as well. It really felt like a classic winter day, in the nicest way. I will rate conditions today as the best we've had this season. I have no idea where snow totals stand for the season vs. averages, but things are looking better.

Skied and felt good. I ran afterwards, and that was tougher, as the snow bike trails were deep and soft.

Note

Big snow overnight and into the morning. Anything 6" or more will qualify as big snow for this season. This made for some good Yowsa! and I had so much fun doing my walks and driveway I headed next door and did my neighbor's, too. They were out of town and will be unhappy about that, but too bad. If you want to Yowsa! when the snow strikes, you better be home and not away.

Trails had been rolled and were soft and loosy. And it was nippy as well, thanks to some brisk wind. Definitely was a good idea to do intervals yesterday and not today. I skied most of the time with Tyler, who for some odd reason was content to go at an unusually easy (for him) pace. Maybe skiing X8A7 a few days back tore him down. Maybe not.

Note

Ski intervals. The default is to do them on Tuesdays, but with tomorrow looking like it could be cold, I decided to move things up a day.

Felt good before, during, after. Especially after.
