Note

Skied and then ran after, going well after dark so that I could catch the rising full moon from various vantage points. The skies were partially overcast at dusk, but appeared to be clearing. There were clouds in the way when the moon was first rising, but then it was mostly unobstructed the rest of the time. It was bright enough that I probably should have been wearing fairly high strength moonscreen, but all I had was MPF 10, so that's what I went with. I guess I'll find out tomorrow how badly I got zapped.

Didn't have any push while I was skiing or running, and yet I didn't feel at all tired either. Maybe I just needed a few strips of Performance Bacon.

Full moons are cool, but the coolest thing by far was spotting some kind of white ermine while I was skiing.

Note

Skied longish and skipped running. Decent amounts of wind and lots of snow was blowing over the highway and re-freezing, so skipping running up top and driving home before it got dark seemed like the better choice.

Continues to be weirdly mild. If my count is right--and I think it is--so far this season we have had days that I will count as cold: one in November, two in December, and one so far this month. These are days that when I was out it was in the low teens or colder.

Considering that is already mid-winter, that is a very low count. Granted, things could change.

Note

Skied and ran; nice conditions with some new snow.

Note

I-80 West from Laramie was closed last night as I was driving home; it's still closed this morning. Possibly the partial government shutdown has resulted in the partial I-80 shutdown, too?

Note

Grey skies in the afternoon meant an early end to the day. Energy levels were a bit under average, and I dialed things back today. Snow was fast though, and what was groomed was nice (as usual, groomer showing no interest in addressing Summit Loop.) Middle school was out there but no sign of the high school--maybe they're on a trip.

There had been wind warnings up earlier, but if anything the winds in the late afternoon were more on the subdued side. The forecasters don't usually miss on the wind.

Note

Skied until nearly dusk and then ran quite long in the night, where "quite long" is entirely my estimate and fault. But it was probably longer than the typical Green trail orienteering course. I think. How long *is* the typical Green trail orienteering course (adjusted for no protests), anyway? I have no idea. But probably pretty long.

Note

Ski intervals in the daylight, and then on the way in I met Tyler on the way out, and skied for a while longer in the moonlight. The moonlight wasn't too bright, but there was another skier out there with a headlight that was blindingly bright. You'd almost think that such things would be regulated and you would have to have special training and license to use one. It was bright.

Note

Note to self: stop by Bosler Costco on way to skiing and purchase pepperonis and mushrooms.

Note

Clear skies, sunny, crisp, no wind, very good skiing conditions. Few skiers were out this afternoon, and I have no idea why. The Middle School folks were out, but not the High School; maybe they raced this past weekend and had the day off.

I ran after skiing, and there was enough moonlight that dusk lingered and lingered. There was enough moonlight for distinct shadows on the ground. I ran until Sirius just started coming up over the eastern horizon.

Sirius is a cool star. A lot of the other stars like to rush and push up into view from behind the pine trees, but Sirius is more poised, and knows how to time its entrance. It rises with grandeur.
