Note

Sunny, no wind, low 20s.

Really too sunny to be outside and almost stayed indoors to ride the trainer to avoid sunburn and other issues such as fresh air, scenic scenery, etc.

But I was too weak to resist, and yielded to the temptation to ski two hours. Conditions were excellent, especially for snow bikers, who were out in force again. Parking lot still jammed even past 3 pm. Maybe folks were using their phones to navigate to the Grand Canyon, and ended up at Happy Jack instead. It's really almost the same, I suppose.

I have felt very strong this whole week, and today I had unusual amounts of energy. I have no idea why. Even the steepest hills felt way easier than usual. Plus I haven't been getting cold at all. It makes me wonder if somehow my metabolism could be running hot.

While skiing, I ran into an acquaintance who helps manage the physical plant at UW. He told me that by degree-day measurements at UW, last winter had been the warmest winter in over 50 years--and I'm pretty sure he said it had been the warmest winter ever with respect to campus heating.

Note

Excellent ski conditions, sunny, though with some light clouds. No wind, high 20s.

The wind has been extraordinary this past week+. I think 6 of 8 days have been basically still or with only the lightest of breezes. That just doesn't happen around here in the winter. Maybe the forces are out of balance around Bermuda or something. Or could be voodoo run amuck. Who knows.

Parking lot was jammed, and all kinds of snow bikers were out this afternoon. Some skiers, too!

After dinner (magic herb pizza), decided it was about time for a haircut. I found one hair that was too long, so cut it. Probably could have found some more, but I might need something to do next week, and besides it's always better not to overdo things. I feel faster already.

Note

Today is one of my favorite days of the year--earliest sunset. And, it's perfectly sunny out, so perfect conditions for this special day.

Figured I better not forget how to run, and ended up running longer than I skied today. Sunshine all day long. Actually cut the run short because I had to hustle home for dinner with friends.

Note

2" of new snow overnight in town, ergo some too easy Yowsa! Full sunshine out, no wind. While I was out dispensing with the snow, 10-12 wings of cranes flew nearly directly overhead, at various intervals, heading south. That was fun to see; we don't often see cranes flying overhead here in town. Skiing was great--another day where I kept on skiing well after dark and longer than planned, and passed on running.

Note

Some new snow, great skiing conditions. Skied, ran, and biked (indoors), so it must have been a pretty good day.

Tuesday Dec 4, 2018 #

Note

Skiing was excellent, so good that I decided not to run and just keep on skiing (2+ hours.) Summer will come around again sometime.

Note

Unplanned "rest" day; did get in a half hour of quality time on the indoor trainer in the evening, so not a complete zero for the day.
