Note
Sunny, no wind, low 20s.
Really too sunny to be outside and almost stayed indoors to ride the trainer to avoid sunburn and other issues such as fresh air, scenic scenery, etc.
But I was too weak to resist, and yielded to the temptation to ski two hours. Conditions were excellent, especially for snow bikers, who were out in force again. Parking lot still jammed even past 3 pm. Maybe folks were using their phones to navigate to the Grand Canyon, and ended up at Happy Jack instead. It's really almost the same, I suppose.
I have felt very strong this whole week, and today I had unusual amounts of energy. I have no idea why. Even the steepest hills felt way easier than usual. Plus I haven't been getting cold at all. It makes me wonder if somehow my metabolism could be running hot.
While skiing, I ran into an acquaintance who helps manage the physical plant at UW. He told me that by degree-day measurements at UW, last winter had been the warmest winter in over 50 years--and I'm pretty sure he said it had been the warmest winter ever with respect to campus heating.
