Note

Spent the first part of the day fooling around with maps and printing, and then, when I was ready to go out for what would have been most of the afternoon, the rains beat me to it, and two rounds of big rain cells with some hail kept me pinned indoors, so, more map work.

The nice thing about this time of the year is that it stays light so late that when the rains were finally dribbling out by around 6:30, there was still enough time to get out for a decent bike ride, and I rode for nearly 2 hours.

Note

Did some revisions at Diamond Bay and Remarkable Flats to add several seasonal ponds that are brimming with water.

Biked afterwards and arrived back home just as the rain was also arriving--good timing.

Note

One of the funny things with the weather here is how--in some years at least--it goes almost straight from winter to summer with not much in between.

This year is a perfect example. It's been full on summer weather this week, and it just wasn't very many weeks ago at all that it was snowing and not raining. Funny stuff.

Note

Biked out past the Airport and past Herrick lane in the afternoon, on what was warm day--got up to 82F, which is the warmest it's been this year. Anything in the 80s qualifies as total summer around here, and it felt nice, but also felt warm.

The valley was a beautiful green as far as you could see in any direction. Still lots of snow left in the Snowies--which above treeline are basically white--and the river is above flood stage (though it would have to go several feet higher at least before even minor property damage would occur anywhere.)

Note

Finished streamering at Twin Boulders.

Took bike in to the local bike shop get brake cable and was told that maybe I could get it back by the next day or Monday at worst. I told them I was relying on my bike for exercise since I was having problems running and how great it would be to get my bike back, and they had it ready for me to pick up in the late afternoon in time to go out for a ride, which I did! Love the bike shop.

Note

Finished trail updating and a very few light revisions at Twin Boulders, and then vetted control locations at same. Right leg not doing well at the end; I seem to be falling apart in 2016!

While biking, a brake cable snapped, so it's falling apart, too. ; )

I suspect the cable is going to be an easier fix than the leg.

Note

Biked in the early afternoon and then spent the late afternoon pleading with the Rain Gods while I was doing some trail revisions to the Twin Boulders map. They let me get away with it for a while, and then the winds energized and swept in some fine amounts of rain and lightning, chasing me away.
