skiing 1:14:00 [3]

Quite foggy up top, especially towards the end as nightfall approached. Snow was soft and warm. Surprisingly, the parking lot was almost completely full even as late as it was in the afternoon when I got up top.

skiing 1:09:00 [3]

This was my final pre-Superstars workout. Now I will begin resting and undergoing a carbo-loading program carefully designed to maximize the glycogen storage that will be needed to become a Superstar.

skiing 1:26:00 [3]

Warmer today and skis were working much better today, even with last season's wax, probably because all the new and windblown snow has aged. Arms will work better with time. ; )

skiing 1:42:00 [3]

Lots of snow drifting into the trails due to Big Kahuna winds. A few pine needles were drifting in, too.

While I was skiing I was thinking a little bit about what it would take to really put Laramie on the XC skiing map. I decided about 30,000 more people and a second high school might do the trick.

skiing 1:35:00 [3]

The interstate opened back up sometime in the early afternoon (my guess) but it was still pretty snowy and slick in spots when I headed up. There was only a little bit of light snow in town and mostly snow was just blowing around in some decent wind, but it snowed steadily all day long up top, resulting in maybe 6" of new powder on the trails--great stuff.

The trails had already been rolled once before I got up, and one of the groomers was laying down corduroy while I was skiing. Only a few skiers were ahead of me, but by the time I headed back for the extreme chill wind field (aka: the parking lot), quite a crowd had developed.

Balance was good, but my arms are totally feeble for skiing for the time being. My goal will be to strengthen them gradually so that by March my arms will only be semi-feeble.

run 29:00 [3]

Quick run in the dark around the neighborhood after getting back from skiing. 8F out, but the wind chill was not so bad as the winds had eased off a bunch.
