Seagulls in the air--a sure sign of spring.

Yesterday while I was running up at Happy Jack there was a huge swirl of crows up above. The crows around here have it about as easy as is possible for crows, and they spend much of their time pendling between the Laramie and Cheyenne dumps, where unimaginable feasts are always laid out waiting for their arrival.

Some spots up at Happy Jack were demonstrating mild amounts of glazing at the end of the day; in contrast, the Laramie Valley was in definite melt mode.

Still nothing but snow to run on up top. But that might be changing soon...

More new snow overnight and this morning, and snow depths achieved new records all around up at Happy Jack. Today's snow depths seem likely to represent the zenith of the season, as warmer temperatures are at long last rumored to be heading this way.

The snow melt could be furious. I hope Cheyenne has started sandbagging because it could be in great peril. Or, wait, was that the Swedish March O' season that was in great peril? I am so easily confused sometimes!

Out on the North Prairie, where the lazy assa dog drivers were driving their dogs around in the usual amounts.

After yesterday's near-spring blizzard, there is even more snow up at Happy Jack than there was after last week's storm. Not only is the snow at highs for the season, it's as deep as I can remember ever seeing it before.

I don't for sure, but it's starting to look like if some of that snow were ever to melt, Cheyenne and even Nebraska could be in bad trouble!

Note

Many area road closures all day long because of the first spring blizzard, and therefore no skiing today. Snow flying by horizontally on strong winds and deep slush on the ground didn't look too enticing for running either. Maybe things will look different tomorrow.

Warming breeze out of the SW and full sun; as sloppy as anyone would want it on any trail or road that isn't paved. The construction workers around town must be so happy!

biking 47:00 [3]

Already a big turn in the weather by mid-afternoon: overcast, and wind switched with colder airs streaming out from the north. Snow on the way.
