run 42:00 [4]

Ran in secret location that might have been Happy Jack but then on the other hand, might not have been. If I said it was sunny and there were lots of fallen leaves, well, so what? Leaves fall down at Happy Jack, too, and every so often the sun does peep out even there.

Felt the best I've felt running so far, but the curve is still pointing uphill and the crest is not yet in sight. One month has now passed since all the various indignities were visited upon my poor body. Funny, now it really all seems rather surreal and almost more a dream than anything that really happened, or at least it does until I look down, because I have a nice long scar as proof it wasn't all just a dream...

Note

Recently concluded measurements reveal that The Happy Jack Map now covers 12.8 km2, putting it 5th on the list of Laramie Range maps by area, just behind the ever popular (with the fun loving crowd) Plutonic Pleasures. And not a single brier to be found out there!

Felt pretty good, all things considered. Wind out of the east.

Brilliant day out!

run 30:00 [1]

I can't say this felt either good or bad, but I can say it was super slow. Basically, I have no idea how I should be feeling at this point. In comparison, biking seemed close to normal , though I was taking it easy there, too.

run 15:00 [1]

Instead of 15 minutes of fame, today I got 15 minutes of running. Very, very slow running! It's a start though, and you do have to take that first step before you can take the next...

biking 1:20:00 [3]

On Friday when I rode by the new indoor tennis facility under construction, structural steel for the walls and roof were starting to go up. When I rode by today, all the pieces were down on the ground and several of the largest pieces were twisted, as if, like I had been, they were suffering from volvulus.

I don't remember too much from my engineering days, but I bet even Carl Childs would tell you this isn't what you hope to see when your building is going up.

biking 23:00 [1]

It wasn't much and probably the easiest bit of biking I've ever done, but it sure beats the heck out of what I was doing 2 weeks ago. Back in the saddle again! ; )

Note

The day is dwaning, and it looks like it is going to be another flawless day outside in the Laramie Valley.

Note

The docotor just took off my bandage, so now I am bandage free! Still a staple or two, however. The IV came out, too. Probably for anyone else these are just tiny little things, but for the hospital afeared like me, they are steps towards being normal again.

My surgeon informed me that the portion of the colon he removed was about 5 pounds, so he expects to see me running much faster once I get back up to speed. In the meantime, it looks like it will be about 2 weeks before I might be allowed to try to resume normal exercising activity.

The doctor said I could eat anything I felt like, and did not rule out azzip, which I felt was kind of him.

And the best part of it all? When I'm all well and healthy, I get to see him again! For a colonoscopy, just to rule out any other bad things having been involved in this unfortunate incident. OK, maybe that's not the best part, but if he says it should be done, then it will be done.
