Note
Large swaths of I-80 west of Laramie were closed for large parts of Friday, Saturday, and today. When I drove up to Happy Jack to ski, both lanes of the other side of the interstate were completely packed with semi-trailers headed west, all the way from Laramie to the to Summit. It was incredible. Usually, when the interstate is "busy", it's still not all that busy compared other places. It was clear that the interstate must have finally been opened again.
When you drive back down the canyon to Laramie, towards the bottom the view opens up to the west, and you can see about 20 miles of interstate snaking across the prairie west of Laramie, until it disappears behind the edge of the mountains. In the daytime, it's difficult to really make out the interstate, but at night it's easy because it's lit up by intermittent vehicle lights. Tonight it was solidly lit up for the entire stretch, from bumper to bumper truck traffic headed east; it was clear it had to be truck traffic that had been held up at the west end of the state that was finally reaching Laramie.
Skied and ran. While running, I felt pretty tired even though I was going easy (I thought). I was probably tired from yesterday, but the other part of it was the snow trails were quite soft, and even the easy sections weren't all that easy.
