Note
In checking, I see the first day I skied last year was on the 22nd of December, and I've already been out 8 days, and had I not been sick, it would probably be 15. A clear sign that this season is off to a much better start for local XC.
Note
Sunny to start the day, and mostly overcast by mid-afternoon. Mildish up to--maybe high 20s, and still now wind. Snow was fast, at least on my (last year's wax) skis. 4 x Moose Loop.
I've done some interval work on skis in the past, but not much, and only on a rather haphazard schedule. It is my intent to do a bit more of that this winter, and on a more regular schedule. I go out every day anyway, so I might as well stick in something harder at least once a week while I'm on the boards. My preference would be that everything was uphill, with maybe some occasional flat sections. The downhills seem mostly a waste, especially the steeper twisty stuff, which I mostly take at a very slow speed. I'd rather get to the bottom of the hill than get into a tree trunk with my head.
We're supposed to get some wind again over the next three days. As Sheryl C. sang, "the change will do you good." We will see.
