Note
Conditions seemed to be favorable for getting out in the afternoon with some pencils and mylar to commence the 2018 mapping campaign--with first fires to be aimed at the new map to be used for a Middle distance NRE at the Rocky Mountain O' Festival this September. There was sun, there were pleasant temperatures, and only trifling amounts of snow left in the map area.
But, when I stepped outside at noon, I realized it was not to be. There was also wind gusting at velocities that would render futile any mapping attempts. So, I took advantage of that by getting out on my bike for some riding. At the end of the day I cruised some of the trails at Happy Jack on foot; Footing was widely varying, depending on the state of melting of snow and ice cover, or lack of same.
Supposed to be extra windy tomorrow, so something to look forward to!
