Note
(rest day)

The plan for what is hopefully the last week of lockdown. Calves a small bit tight this morning but nothing major.

Monday - Rest
Tuesday - Bike
Wednesday - Run
Thursday - Bike
Friday - Run
Saturday - Bike
Sunday - Run

So the same as last week. Weather forecast is not as good though this week so the bike might get less enjoyable. At least I might have a new HR strap this week to see what the effort is like.

Is it worth describing where I went when all runs at the moment are within 2km of home?

Up early so out earlier than last couple of weeks. Still feeling last nights popcorn as I started but got better during the run. Low cloud but nice morning.

Calves started to struggle near home, in the last kilometre. Nothing major, just felt them a small bit. So slowed a small bit and made it home.

Quiet out and about. Only met some people on the way into the Abbey.

Clockwise

Lovely morning. Bit of a a breeze though, or at least it felt like it, from the south/southeast.

17.45
18.00
18.08

Improved up the wall as the laps went on, but slower up from the main road. First time up the wall I did have some gear issues starting off followed by a car against me as I tried to sort it.

Was tired when I woke up, two nights of interrupted sleep, so wasn't sure i'd do this, but improved as the morning went on so saw no reason not to train. A few days off the bike now with running tomorrow and a rest on Monday.

Loop of Mangerton Rd + short loop in Bluepool

Had somewhere in mind to go for this run but that idea changed when Erik decided he wanted to go running too! Not sure why he needed his doodle drawing thing he got yesterday for this birthday with him, maybe he wanted it just in case he got some inspiration from something he saw on his run.

The pace isn't too quick but giving it an intensity of 3 since i'd to push the buggy/Erik up a few steep hills.

Lovely day out.

Left calf giving out when we started but improved as the run went on. Legs feeling fine when I finished. So not too worried. More worried about the pain in my mouth but dentist I rang this morning only doing emergencies. Not quite an emergency yet, i'd have preferred to not be an emergency which I imagine it will be by next week!

17.23 (5.44)

Think the weather helped with the spin today, short sleeves. Warm outside. Which will be good for Erik later on his birthday when he goes outside to try out his new tractor I spent last night putting together (or at least putting on the steering wheel and a couple of wheels).

Had a cyclist in front of me the 2nd time up Mangterton Rd or was it the 1st time, can't rememember, so passing him helped that effort.

Keep on meeting the same people, I suppose they are out getting their exercise the same time as me. Then I usually get to see them more than once as I'm doing laps.

Tried out the new shoes, felt fine. Legs felt a bit iffy at times, calves, but held together. Don't think I pushed things too much. Tried to run comfortably.

Shorts & T-shirt weather :-)

Planned on doing the loop around to Mangerton Road taking in the Abbey but decided to do an extra bit on the way home for a tiny bit more distance.

Still no sign of the HR strap...

A more consistent effort across the 3 laps today, better on the wall on the 2nd and 3rd times, with the 2nd lap having the better segments.

I was helped at the end of the 2nd lap, up from the main road, and on the 3rd lap after the school by having someone on a bike in front of me. Passed them on my 2nd lap, and they were again in front of me after the school as they went straight up.

Felt a small bit chilly starting off but was fine once warmed up. I do feel better once the legs are fully warmed up which despite the fastest time it didn't feel like it. Also the 1st lap descending Mangerton Road was a warning to focus, my mind drifted before a bend but no issues, just need to be alert. No places for complacency in this lap.

New runners arrived yesterday and i'm hoping HR strap arrives today

Walking 44:44 [2] 3.55 km (12:35 / km) +33m 12:01 / km

Some drizzle early on but not heavy. Erik threw a tantrum when he saw Oscar in ‘his’ buggy before we set off but he thankfully calmed down before we set off.
