Got a cold now. Can't say that's a surprise after the weekend. Was bad when I woke up but feeling a bit better now. Not too concerned about it. Body in general feeling much better today than last Monday. So that's a positive.

Thursday - Run
Friday - Turbo
Saturday - Rest (Mary in London for the day)
Sunday - Orienteering

Not certain that plan will actually happen, all depends on how i'm feeling.

Upper Torc

Plan was to have a plan, so to be looking a couple of controls ahead. Worked out fine.

Weather was different again today. Was pouring rain when I left home but could see the rain was starting to have a bite. By the time I got going the rain had turned to snow. Which got heavier as time went on. Had to clear snow off the car, a few cm worth, before being able to drive home.

Too high for 2. So a small bit of time lost. Then a lot of climb. Before back down the hill again.

Easy enough once the high controls were got. The loop on the other side of Killegy House was straightforward. Then back again to the last few controls.

Stopped at 16 to point a couple of people in the right direction. Then was silly at 17, checked descriptions for side of thicket, which was big enough. But why I thought I could figure out my north from my south I’m not so sure! So ran the long way around the thicket.

Up the hill then to 18 before taking a small path down which was slippy enough. Across the river then for the last few controls of which only 1 was going to be tricky. Hit it okayish but a few seconds lost hitting a dead end before it. Coming out of the dead end I ran into a tree!

CorkO Training

Was hoping I’d get a text this morning saying it was cancelled but one never arrived so I headed off into some lovely west Cork weather!!! Very wet and very windy. But enjoyed the training.

Started with a line which went ok.
Then had a bit of wait as Brian put out 6 controls for a short course. I executed the course badly. Thought I knew what I was doing but sloppy first couple of controls. Copped myself on after that but fall on the way to 4 on some bare rock wasn’t enjoyable.

Then a corridor with points marked on the map. Did this with Jens. Good to have the reassurance that we were at the right spot and the company in the weather. Wasn’t too sure parallel to the fence but other than that it was grand.

Finally another course but no controls this time. Again did this with Jens. Orienteered better on this than the first course.

To finish there was a run back to the car.

Good day on terrain. Another session planned by the club at the end of the month in the same place if there’s anyone else interested.

Not 100% yet but think i'll chance training tomorrow with CorkO despite the weather forecast. Then see how I feel before chancing Torc on Sunday. Would be good to run with a map 2 days in a row, been a while since I managed that.

Had a nice spin in the sunshine around South Kerry. Not feeling as bad as yesterday, went to bed at 8, so got a decent amount of sleep, badly needed. Still will need to improve a bit if i'm to do anything at the weekend.

Not feeling great today. Legs are suffering after Sunday, bad case of the DOMS, but with the bike yesterday evening added in, body is now not happy. Run down so need to rest.
