Note
(rest day)

Right shin sore yesterday evening but less so this morning. Hoping it was something I tweaked yesterday while avoiding a fall rather than a new injury. Will be able to rest today anyways.

With the change in the hour over the weekend i'm definitely looking forward to getting outside on the bike, so turbo season is almost over.

Monday - Rest (last ante-natal class, that was fast!)
Tuesday - Running
Wednesday - Rest/Bike/Turbo (Cork in the morning so not sure when we'll be home)
Thursday - Bike (half thinking of taking the day off)
Friday - Running (might go to Tir na Spideoige, need to re-tag some sites due to recent burning)
Saturday - Bike
Sunday - Running

As it's Easter the weekend plan despite specifying what I want to do for the moment, i'll accept some flexibility in it. Not sure when Mary wants to take Emilia (niece) Easter Egg hunting!

Easy couple to start but a small bit early off the track for 3, so had to cross to the other side of the re-entrant for the control.

Lovely climb to 5! 6 was a bit further on than I expected so hesitant before getting the control. No issues with the next controls apart from more climb to 9.

Down the hill from 11 I stumbled a few times, a couple of close calls, ten had to climb up again to get the control on the fence. I don't think a contouring route would have been any quicker due to runnability. Interesting trees at number 15.

Overshot 16 to a lower boulder. Then came in a bit low for 19, so not a good line leaving 18. Also had an issue with 20. Came around the hill and saw the rocks further on but crag on the map was closer to the hilltop so climbed up, but it was the rocks I first saw where the control was, definitely no other crag about.

22 was just straight up, not pleasant. But at least once up that was the end of the climb more or less. Dropping to 24 I met someone climbing up against me so reckoned I was in the right place to be going down.

Maybe could have cut across the field to 25 as fence was low. Wouldn't have saved much.

Area had some burning in places, on the western side, so that helped with runnability. Great day to be out running, and happy with my choice of race.

Warm down to go look for my dad.
He was following Bobby around the green course after getting his map wet in a bog. You’d think he’d know better!

Killarney Club Spin

Smaller group this week and more of a similar ability. Brendan's legs deserted him today so that did pull things back a bit. Kept him company up to Gullaun and back to Mastergeeha.

Bit of effort up to Lough Guitane to start out with, Mike put in a challenge, got the HR up. Then after Glenflesk one of the other lads thought he was a dog and started chasing a tractor so I chased after him.

What a day out though, glorious weather. Legs feeling fine, small bit tired nearing home, but needs to be done.

- good episode, plenty of action and suspense

Not too difficult to get the session done as a result.

Been a few weeks since I weighed myself. It's time to give the biscuits (not completely!) and evening snacks a break, and look at portion control.

Somehow I managed to get a break in the weather so was a dry run.

Achilles feeling a bit sore during the day so was hoping it would survive the run, it did.

Comfortable pace, trying not to push things too much.

Good episode, was definitely enjoying it and hoped it would last longer. Made the spin easier.

Bit later starting than usual, had the KLASSIC AGM after work. Was a brilliant AGM, best I’ve ever attended. All done in 15 minutes, didn’t get a job, and won one of the free annual memberships on offer.

Knockreer and Ross Castle

Glorious afternoon and got out a bit earlier than usual. Small bit of a breeze.

Decided to head for Ross Castle, going anti-clockwise by the lake to start off with. Legs feeling mostly ok.

As I was heading in the Ross Castle direction I remembered there is a Strava Segment that could be worth a go at. So wound myself up and attacked that bit of road. Definitely hurting towards the end. Didn't get the KOM, need to find 3 more seconds, will wait for the Summer.

Went straight back more or less after doing a loop of Ross Island. As I passed the Ross Castle car park I noticed another lad running coming from my right, and a small bit further I looked over my shoulder and he was behind me. Didn't want to be passed out so there's a fast enough kilometre between 9 and 10. Think that dropped him!

Achilles a small bit sore afterwards but not too bad.
