Good idea not starting until late as very cold and frosty this morning. Roads were ok but some frost on the cycle lane in Fossa, and also some slush on the descent towards the Laune.

Cold but had correct amount of layers on.

Bit of a headwind on the way back in from Beaufort Bridge so that added some difficulty to the 2nd half of the spin.

Good to get out.

Killarney parkrun

Mary said yesterday that she intended to head down this morning so I went to keep her company. Jogged the flats and downhills buy any uphill slopes were walked.

Nice morning in the National Park.

Tír na Spideoige

Just about remembered to print off a couple of maps before leaving work yesterday. Didn’t really have a plan with regards to what I needed to do today but since I started at a fence I decided to check the fences, and also check my mapping of the new fence. Found 1 existing crossing point, saves some construction.

Also wondering why fence on south side of map needs an electric wire on top of it. Sheep fence but with electric wire rather than barbed above.

Lovely day to be out anyways. Lot more wildlife here as opposed to the national park earlier. 2 pheasants and a Fox all spotted.

Next trip I’ll tag some sites.

Muckross

Switched off auto lap (1km) before Carlingford so didn't have that feedback this evening to regulate pace. Ran probably a bit too fast as a result. Plan was this kind of time for a run, maybe even a couple of minutes shorter, but ran via the arboretum before turning back towards the car.

Knee was ok I think but left calf/Achilles felt not great before it warmed up, also right calf dodgy too. Physio next Monday to look forward to.

Not sure if bike tomorrow is manageable but some form of running at the weekend should be feasible.

Note
(rest day)

Dentist reason for today's inactivity. Spent around 30 minutes with a drill or what sounded like on in my mouth before lunch (lunch I ate before the appointment, so had it eaten by 11.45!). Wasn't too bad getting the work done and the pain I was warned about for later didn't materialise.

Knee still feeling a bit iffy but calves fine again.

(rest day)

Gave up on running idea with Storm Eleanor passing through. Calves feeling improved so was going to chance them. Decided I’d try bike instead after dinner but after a few turns of the pedals I could feel right knee and bailed. Need to get it fixed or at least diagnosed.

Note
(rest day)

Body tired but most definitely sore today. Achilles, calves and knee all an issue.
Achilles might be more shoe related.
Calves tight.
Right knee definitely sore.

Not really sure what to do this week as a result apart from today, nothing. Also got dentist again on Wednesday so might mean another day off.

Monday - Rest
Tuesday - Bike/Run
Wednesday - Bike/Rest
Thursday - Bike
Friday - Run
Saturday - Bike/Orienteering
Sunday - Bike/Orienteering

Will see what the forecast is like for the weekend and choose accordingly. Orienteering would be Shamrock planning.

Also will see about getting physio next week.
