Tír na Spideoige

Out for 1st inspection of the area ahead of Shamrock 2018. Mostly positive I feel, 1 old fence gone but a bigger issue is the fence not on my version of the map, narrows the area a bit, will have to think about it.

Bit of running, bit of walking. Achilles felt ok I think.

Hadn't realised i'd dropped a lot when I turned at the bottom of the map. Planned a course to visit areas I wanted to look at, but only went to a few controls, they were just to keep me going in the direction I wanted to go.

Nice day to be out and about.

Killarney-Beaufort-Board of Works-Killarney

7 out this morning for what wasn’t a bad morning to be on the bike. Not that cold and no real wind.

Pace was controlled enough for the duration, so felt comfortable. The climb, if you’d call it one, was easy enough. That is a straight road.

Nice spin then back towards Fossa, the Glencar road has the right gradient for it to be easy to get home. Not so much the other direction.

Achilles noticeable at times. Will see what it’s like tomorrow in Orienteering shoes on Tír na Spideoige.

Beaufort route but anti-clockwise!!! Just to be different.

Average speed suffered through town on the way home due to traffic on the Muckross Road. The stop/go system on the bridge is starting to annoy me now but probably weeks before it's gone.

River Laune was still very full near Fossa and at Beaufort Bridge.

Left Achilles a tiny bit noticeable, think I need to look at the shoes as reckon they are the issue more so than the leg reacting to the bike, or at least that's what i'm hoping.

Circuits 48:03 [3]
shoes: Adidas Supernova Black (2015)

3 circuits, 45 seconds on with 15 second recovery
Didn’t feel too bad this week despite the week off last week due to illness. Will see how recovery goes over the next few days.

With the usual core thrown in too for good measure.

Must remember to print off some maps tomorrow for the weekend.

Turbo Trainer 59:10 [3]

Avg Cadence = 93rpm

GOT S07 E01

Went mostly ok, rad wasn't on before I started so that helped the temperature. Reckon a fan would be a good idea as my training room is smaller than the spare bedroom where I did some turbo last year and also the sitting room.

Last 10 minutes were just a sweaty mess!

Physio 1:00:00 [0]

Another hour of fun with more to look forward to next week.

Looks like a week of inactivity actually hasn't done the calves any favours as lack of movement didn't help.

Mention of dry needling next week...

Note

Lungs feeling a bit sore this morning, i'll take that as a good sign!
Not going to go to Connaught Champs, no point in risking the achilles, better to get it right. Have left the weekend blank, will see what the weather is like. Want to go to Tír na Spideoige for a look around and will also cycle, so depends on the weather forecast. It's looking alright at the moment, and there's bank holiday monday to factor in too, and i'm assuming an hour change maybe.

Monday - Turbo, maybe risk outside if the weather is alright
Tuesday - Physio
Wednesday - Turbo
Thursday - Circuits
Friday - Turbo

Lough Guitane-Glenflesk-Barraduff-Killarney-Mill Road

Got out for a spin on what was a nice evening, only this week left before the hour changes.

Lungs ok I think. Legs felt a bit tired at times after the week off. Didn't enjoy any cycling into the wind. Also left Achilles didn't feel great again today cycling, probably most uncomfortable when out of the saddle. Not a good sign that the Achilles is complaining on the bike. If I don't have the bike it doesn't leave me many options when it comes to running.
