Seefin

Never started Garmin!

Started out ok, found the hill up to 5 tough going. Then messed up 7, too low, relocated off the road, and then made a balls of 8 too, got distracted by the storm blown fallen trees before it. Fair enough the stream was missing though before the fallen trees so should have gone on, then went left rather than right. So 2 bad controls there. 3 minutes lost to 7 and at least 1.30 to 8.

Next few controls were ok.

Ended up low at 14 so maybe 45 seconds dropped there. Overshot 16 slightly so another 30 seconds gone. Think I was gaining on the donkeys running on the track in front of me on the way to 18.

Wasn't too happy in the circle at 21 but ok in the splits. Looks like the splits after 16 are positive enough for me, but didn't feel too strong. Ran ok on the downhills, but uphill wasn't easy.

Definitely found the going tough today, it is a very physical area. Weather not great, felt a bit cold running, so that didn't help. Plenty of falls out there.

Another day of UCC, fun group presentation this afternoon! And went through research project idea with the lecturer, my project idea is good, but she gave me a few other options regarding how to do the research. Likely to be for the better but possibly tougher.

Does trying on running shoes count as exercise?
Called in to John Buckley's on the way home and bought a pair of runners, and also a pair of X-Talons, didn't have the x-talons in stock but tried on the pair a half size bigger and smaller. Got a pair of Brooks Ghost to run in, first time with this brand. Other option I considered was back to Waveriders but decided to go for a different brand.

Another day in UCC.

Left calf feeling a bit better today. Stretched and rolled it last night which has helped. Should be ready to run fast on Sunday!

Weather not great today, Turners Cross could be an option for tonight but not liking the weather.

(rest day)

Left calf tight today but have a few days off to look forward to. I'll blame college for that. But have had a good stretch of it since Armagh so needed to some extent.

Will do some work on the calf tonight.

Muckross & Torc

Left calf could be felt after yesterday so didn't push too hard today. Felt ok for the run. Thought running would be an issue with the orange weather warning, again, but was ok. That being said the 1st shower of hailstones was alright but the 2nd on the last stretch before the car was heavy and therefore hurt.

Went for a bit of climb today so took in Torc. Wasn't sure how long the extension would be to the normal route but 2k is acceptable.

Had to stop twice to tie left shoe. Also realised that route took me along Mangerton Road for a section which wasn't ideal in black gear, although reckoned my light blue IOC cap was enough for cars to see me!

So apart from that hail to finish it was an enjoyable enough run.

Golf Course and Demesne

Usual pre-ham route recently.

Legs mostly ok, left calf wasn't feeling too bad before or during. Although think it wasn't the best near the end. No after affects though.

Coldish evening but not too bad. Could be worse tomorrow...

Made a couple of pancakes when I got home day for the day that's in it.

Plan for this week. Have a couple of rest days scheduled for this week due to being in UCC so will make the most of that by putting something into the next few days, make sure i'm tired when I take those days off. Seefin event has been brought forward by a week so hope to make that on Sunday.

Game of Thrones S06 E06

Getting through this series fairly fast at this stage, but I have condensed it into a shorter period of time. Give it a few more weeks and it's back to outdoor cycling in the evenings :-)

Can't say i'm pleased with the cadence, wasn't keeping an eye on it, and didn't feel like I wasn't putting in as much effort as yesterday. Legs did maybe feel a small bit more tired.
