Note
(injured)

Running today was part of my plan and so was tomorrow but have decided to rest until I see how my physio appointment tomorrow evening goes. Need to get calf sorted before next weekend. Not that concerned at the moment but don't want to push things.

Tonevane, out Dingle Way and back.

Intended to run for 5k out and then 5k back but didn't happen as planned. Calf was not right after yesterdays run and I didn't feel comfortable running due to slight pain. Decided to turn back as I felt pushing things might have done more damage. When I started legs were feeling a bit on the tired side but I didn't mind that. Underfoot conditions were obviously wet and slippy in places.

When I turned the sky in front of me was looking very. A few minutes later the skies opened and the wind speed increased significantly. It was bad enough at my back but would have been 100 times worse if i'd to run into this deluge and gales. There was also a few flashes of lightning and thunder. My pace increased slightly due to the gale blowing from behind me. Was glad to get back to the car.

Once in the car I got out the phone and rang the physio for an appointment. Ironically where I was running today would be less than 500m from the phyio's place!

Went out the canal towards The Spa as far as the end of the fields, then back into the basin before returning to Blennerville.

Very nice evening today after the shocking weather of the last few days. Was enjoyable to be out running. After meeting no one last night in the rain I met a lot of people out walking tonight. Was very happy with the pace I was running for the distance. The only negative thing was that my calf (right) started to hurt over the last km or so. Don't think it's a serious problem, but something that I need to be careful with though.

Blennerville out along canal towards The Spa, then back in along canal to the basin, before back along the canal to my car parked in Blennerville.

After a day where it rained constantly, with news reports of flooding all along the west coast, it dried up a bit around 4, didn't stop it raining on me running though for the last bit of of my run. Even my drive to where I park was not direct as roads were closed due to flooding.

Bit windy heading out and ground was very wet. Pace was ok and no problem with my ankle which I taped to be on the safe side. Much easier to run than last night. Fields were very slippy and lots of pools of water.

Picked up the pace into the wind for the last 1.4 km, actually my pace stayed the same as it was into the rain, but increased effort. Saw someone cycling on the other side of the canal on the main road so they were my target, not a serious cyclist, just someone heading home. Was wet and windy, running was probably easier. Did this stretch back to the car faster than the bike so was happy with that.

What a horrible run, it was shockingly bad. The wind and rain was painful, had to use my hand to shield my eyes so I could see where I was going. Just went out the canal to Cockleshell Road and back to the car. Was tough going heading out into the wind but got worse on the small section of paved road at the end of Cockleshell road as I attempted to keep running, spray was blowing of the sea which i'd never seen so close here, and into my face which hurt. Turned around and headed back towards the car. Near the end I stepped in a hole and my ankle didn't like it after the pothole on Monday. Got to Blennerville and felt that running to the Basin would have been ok but i'd never have got back running into the wind. Pleased that I actually went out into this really bad weather, probably crazy to try, but not happy with the time, 20mins is better than nothing though.

Note
(rest day)

Decided against running today after going over on my ankle last night. Was sore after running so felt that a days rest would be good for it.

Trails 35:11 [3] 6.88 km (5:07 / km)

Blennerville out the canal to Cockleshell Road, back into the Basin before back to the car. Run was going fine until I got to Cockleshell Road when two pools off water on the road had merged into one in front of me. I slowed down to see how best to get around it but didn't notice a pothole filled with water on my left. Stepped on the edge and sprained my ankle a small bit. Turned around at this stage not happy with the pain in my ankle. Pain calmed slightly so I ran into the Basin and then back to the car. Ankle was sore that evening, but I had the ice packs on it.
