Orienteering race 26:36 [5] *** 3.2 km (8:19 / km) +60m 7:36 / km
ahr:186 max:210 spiked:7/12c

Scottish 6 Day - 6 - Grandtully
Nicely short and simple so I raced as hard as I could (as shown by the HR). A bit scrappy in the circles with some slight misses. 8ish mins down on the lead which I am very happy about as every other day has been a good 20. Another top 10 result pulling me up to 10th Brit overall :)

Scottish 6 Day - 5 - Craig A Barns
Would have appreciated a later start time but atleast I wasn't 2 mins in front or behind anyone today...
Reasonably clean with only a few slips. Took it very easy and was very cautious of the ankles.
Happy because longer courses are becoming less of a task which means I'm getting stronger :)

Apart from a 3 minute time loss on 8 it was a pretty class run. Pleased with the pace considering everything :). Happy with the result too!

Scottish 6 Day - 3 - Dundurn
Middle seemed do-able so tried to race. Had rebecca 2 mins behind me which played on my mind - lots of scrappy mistakes. once she caught me i orienteered better... mistake at 10 meant she got away. Annoyed at myself for focusing on her and not myself.

Note

Need to be careful not to get carried away overdo it on the training now. Really don't want anymore injuries

Orienteering 1:02:23 [4] *** 6.2 km (10:04 / km) +157m 8:56 / km
ahr:174 max:199 spiked:10/13c

Scottish 6 Days - 2 - Edinchip
Again went out to train rather than race. Early start made it tough, and was very aware Rebecca was 2 minutes ahead. Kept it clean with only a few hesitations and 1 slightly bigger mistake. Played cat and mouse with Rebecca which was quite distracting. She dropped me towards the end as I was lots slower.

Running 2:54:31 [2] 13.4 km (13:01 / km) +682m 10:23 / km
ahr:141

Went up some mountains with mum intending to run all of the down and flats. I was a bit broken so we only ran a bit but we got a bit lost (even though mum denies it)

Scottish 6 Day - Day 1 - Auchingarrich
Left my watch at home so this is just an estimate. Used it as training rather than racing it, concentrating on plan (which kinda went out of the window when i got tired, something to be aware of). Pretty tough terrain which was hard going and I made quite a few little errors along side 1 fat mistake later on. A scrappy run but surprised at the result.

Review of deeside
Although earlier in the week I was feeling awful about myself and my orienteering compared to the others, after yesterday I've properly reflected on the week and am genuinely so proud of myself for what I've achieved. (Cringe)
My nav is continuing to develop nicely and is becoming even more reliable and solid and I am starting to minimise stupid mistakes. My new approach to my nav works really well for me and I'm a lot cleaner when in the control circle.
Although I'm shattered from all of the physical stuff, I am more confident in my current capabilities and I know that with a more structured training plan I will improve over time and I look forward to running back at home :)
Psychologically, I've learned to be more confident in myself and my abilities. I need to stop putting myself down and use my strengths to the best of my ability and build on my weaknesses over time.
It's been a class week and I can't wait to put the training into practice at the Scottish 6 Day next week.
Also, IM STILL INJURY FREE YAY!!
4 PM

Running 47:59 [3] 4.3 km (11:10 / km) +152m 9:29 / km
ahr:135 max:164 shoes: Brooks Ghost GTX

Post travel recovery walk / run with mum which didn't go quite as planned as we got blocked by vegetation and I got even more ticks yay
