shoes: Lux

45.248km with 1104m climb in 3:02:01. Qantocks south. Woke up with a saw throat yesterday worse today. Was a real snotfest today but still able to push relatively hard but not 100%.

Lots of contours so always doubtful of clearing. Decided to go anti clockwise so would have the option of the very fast road finish at end. Made a bit of a pig's ear of 13 to Start. Then took slower not road route to 26. Missed path for 3 loosing more time. So 3 mistakes in 3 controls but generally good from here. Nice tracks for 11,12 9 on road bit muddy to 22 climb to 27 a bit of trouble finding 8. 2 on up for 20 back down 18 up 5 and 50 point 28. Missed entry track for 7 but cut up ok. 19, 6. Down road for 24 but there is an extra track 50m before the one I needed so 5 mins lost doing an extra loop and looking in vain before coming out on top path. Ok from here. 20 climb to 4 time looking tight only 19 mins left and finish a long way off on map but hopefully fast. Threw another minute overshadowing 21. Onto road at top carpark on the 10 tooth sprocket but held up by a car. Skipped 14 stuck to road and into 23 from far side flat out finish thankfully quick as expected.

Mistakes added up to missing 20 points for 14 but turns out my mistakes were minor compare to Ian's and marks so an easy win in the end and 14 was tricky.

13.794km with 389m climb in 1:07:40. Had got rather wet when I went out to collect controls. Visited the 4 I missed in the race plus 2 more. Some nice trails but extras are at least half an hour with all the climb.
