Easy loop taking in the col de la Croix-de-l'Homme Mort. Nice small back roads for the route down but took a bit of navigating. Climb back up was longer than expected I was miss remembering what the book said for the climb. Very easy going.

Wandered up the Pay de Dome from the top of the path which is the only realy way up at present as the road is having a railway put up it... Not sure if I can cycle it tommorow morning between 7 and 9 whach are the cycle hours for the week or not, difinatly want get to the very top as that bit realy is a building sight where the top underground station is being put in. Path gose up the old mule track 1.9km 350m climb record aparently 11.06 so not too shaby as it's a fairly loose surface but plenty wide. Probobly spent a good half of an hour on top wandering around as there is plenty to see and informational notices in French English and Greman.

Up the col de la Croix de Chaubouret from St. Etienne. A bit chilly but intermitent sun going up. From top cut through to the col de la Republic to decent that and then go up and then cut back to decend to the van. The plan was to avoid having to navigate though St.Etienne on the bike. Coming down the bottom of the Republic the heaverns opened and I ended up getting lost in St.Etienne anyway as I tried to get back to the van in the downpour. Glad of the heater when I made it.

Up and down the col de la Republic. Drove to the bottom from where I was which was easy as there is a motorway with a tunnel I could not use while it was pissing down on me before. Just straight up and down. Spiting with rain at the bottom bone dry most of the way then raining again at the bottopm on my return.

Down and up the col d'Oeillon. Was only planning to do this one climb today and this morning at the top I was in the fog, waited till about 2pm before it lifted but never realy warmed up at the top. Slightly warmer at the bottom but not by the time I got back up again. A long steady climb not too hard just pushed the top km back to the van from the actual coll. Just got the log for comming up, the bike computer froze up (interrupts still good but main loop locked) going down and I only got it going by removing the power to force a reset. It has done this before but I am not sure where the trouble is most of my code has timeouts where talking to unreliable hardware. I suspect the SD code but have not tried tracing it. I need to enable the watchdog timer then I at least want have to force a reset manualy.

loop over the col de Perty, the last of the alpine climbs from my tour de france book. I have actualy been up up before but from the other side. Came back over the col st. Mary which is not quite big enought for my book to count it but still fairly large. A bit knackered by the time I got back to the van.

Down and up the col du Murs. Nice twisty climb up a little limestone gorge. Entertainment added by the guy on a recumbant how shot past me going up hill!!! He realy was shifting and it had panniers on as well. Had to go up 3 gears to catch him up to take a photo! Did not try sticking with him, but one of the opther two people I had been leading up had a go but did not manage it.

An early lunch then out for the bigest single climb of the trip. From Sault down the Gorge de la Nesque, where I took some photos and left my big watter bottle leaving me with just 500ml. Across to Bedoin where I realised the problem with the watter. Started the climb steadily trying not to sweat to much but it was warm and sunny and I had on my winter severn top. Managed to fill the bottle about 3 km in and had a good drink but then did not see any more water up though thew steep 9% 10km slog though the forest was getting low by the top but at least the sun had gone in. got some more water about 5km from the top just into the open section and then pushed on hard for the top as the weather was not looking so good. Just got to the top in the dry but there had been thunder and looking the way I need to go back to Sault there was one realy dark cloud in the way. Did not hang around put windproof top on and shot back down for the treeline raining from about 2 km down. Got into the trees and stoped before it realy came on hard and put on my thermal, hat gloves and overtrousers. Seriously feeling stupid about having the windproof not my proper cag. Setoff into the heavy rain and thunder with 20km to get back to the van. It did not ease off and I was fairly soaked on the top half and my shouse by the time I got back. Good to put the heater on to get warm again. Still had almost a full bottle of water when I got back! abd could of filled a good bit of another ringing my stuff out.

Up mont Faron above Toulon. took quite some time finding the start from where I was parked and probobly still did not do it right ended up going back past the van after 5 km... Eventualy found the road and it was shut to traffic there was a 10km road race going on, not the sort you would get a pb in though with 500m climb. As there were some other bikes going up I tootled on up from towards the back of the fields giving encouragment to those walking. Wouls of been interesting to of been a bit earlier and seen the front of the race. The road gose on over the top so no runers to look out for

A loop from the top of the Col de l'espigoulier close to Marseille. A bit warmer especialy on the bottom of the climb. A realy nice twisty road up, quite a lot of Motorbikes out and people out pic-nicking. Just steady not pushing too hard.
