Went up to the pub to see if there were any Severn riders going out, only Simon there but he was thinking better of it and headed home. Then went around my Hawksbury loop but with some minor variations to find more snow. Some bits better then axpected snow wiase some worse, it's hard to tell where will be grited. Went along the bridlepath out the back of hawksbury but that was a bad idea had to push about a third og it and the rest was slow and hard going. The lane to Horton afterwards was butifull though a realy nice surface. Cold and hard work into the headwind initaly just cold feet after turning a bit. Quite a bit slower than the same sort of loop in the summer on the road bike where it's under two hours.

In New Beechenhurst trying to checkout parking for my night event, not much luck there as you of course can not see if the verges are suitable under 6 inches of snow lots more than in Bristol. Hard going sholders feeling it at the end from the constant stearing corrections that were needed. cold feet by the end.

Out in the evening with the big lights on the minor roads trying to look for the best snow. Was planning about 3 hours up beyond hinton hill onto the small road over the top and around towards Horton. Unfortunatly I managed to break threw some the ice at a ford on a bridleway out beyond puckelchurch ended up on my side in about a foot of water wet all along one side, a boot full of water and a socking glove. I had spair gloves and overtrousers so managed to come straight back relativly warm apart from a freezing foot.

Running (road-field) 1:05:00 [2] 8.0 km (8:08 / km) +200m 7:13 / km

Bok training from Inn on the green. A bit slipery on the road down the hill to the golf course. Golf course good pitty there was not much snow to soften it up just a sprinkeling. Not the full golf course loop skiped a couple of holes. Very steady Mark, Jenny and Brian out. Phil chickend out but went drinking...

Westbury training. Coumb dingle was shut. We had 50+ people gathering on the road outside. Went with Mikes group just around the block and up onto the downs then I came straight back as my hip was cold. I had forgotten my fury padding not a good thing in this cold weather.

Severn Sunday run from warmley. Chilly but clear. road out gently giving myselft plenty of time in case of bad ice but the roads were all OK. Only 5 out Graham Anna another guy I did not know and a young lad without toom much on, he had a gap on his arms between armwarmers and jersy can's of been tood bad he took the arm warmers off on the way home....

Route out to Wooton Basset then back through Malamsbury. Did not push the first hill hung back but still infront of Graham. Took the lead up the hill after mangotsfield and suprised noone went past. could not hang on up the lynham hill though. Once on the way back Graham started putting the hammer down on the front, don't know how he dose it realy. I think everyone was strugeling a bit but I realy was suffering gave up the chace at Luckington where a gap apeared they waited up soon enough but I told them to carry on and I just headed back at my own pace which was still respectable enough. Going up past Todmarton they all came back past again having got a bit lost in Acton Turvile... Graham and Anna were still in sight after turning off the main road to go around the Kendelshire golfcourse. Once around at the T junction at the other side I saw them pushing there bikes 50 yards up the road, unfortunatly I knew why they were pushing there bikes because I was lying in the middle of the road, the black ice was so slipery I had to shuffel over to the verge to stand up. No harm done but the helmet took a good bang so good job it was on. want be taking that road with this weather in the future.

loging broke somewhere near todmarton...
