Severn Sunday ride from Warmely. A good turnout with 9 including Simon Burges with his wife on a tandem. They showed us how to do it heading to Tetbury a good job we entered a vilage with a 30mph limit and all the cars stuck to it so they had to slow down giving those of us still in the wheel a change to catch breath. I was not so good up the hill out of Nailsworth just could not keep the wheel of the leading tweo and then droped back quick with the headwind. Came in steadily from Charfiled where Viz the new guy from Gibralter punctured.

Severn Saturday ride. First decent trip with IpBike App report on the blog I just set up at http://www.iforpowell.com/cms/index.php?page=blog

8 Out, Chris pushing on too fast as ever especialy at the start. I at least was not the slowest today Jerry was suffering and Simon Rouse as well died at the end.

Spin around Chepstow park wood. Found a bug half way around when I tried to change the screen brightness lock half way around which crashed the app so no goo record for the first bit but a bug to sort which is good. Also need to put some filtering on the cadence signal as I get spikes when not pedeling and with the sensor next to the magnet. I have removed them from the graph manualy.

Display was good and clear apart from when the sun was at the wrong angle and the reflection was very bad.

Gps track looking good.

Up to the cyceling club AGM and back.

First time out with gps logging. Looks like Attackpoint is not happy with it but google earth loaded it OK. somthing else to look at. OK Sorted the GPX file. Problem with my ISO time, no seconds...

Looks like I have an issue with the altitude on pausing.

Need to use the filtered value for the HR as it clearly spikes around calculating it every beat.

Cycling (Turbo) 10:00 [2] 3.0 km (18.0 kph)
shoes: Scott RC1

Went and bought an Xperia X8 which is Ant capable on friday as the Active is not turning up and I need real hardware now to make proper progress. Got the basic Sensor stuff up and running today for HR Speed and Cadence so had to get the Turbo out for testing.

Buying the phone has had the desired effect and aparently the Active is now avalible from Ammozon in the US so some products have shiped at least.

Graph from data gathered on the phone. Altitude is fake data still as no presure sensors on X8. Once I make a bike mount I may try working somthing off the other sensors. I don't expect it to be very good during the ride but it may help supliment gps crapyness for altitude and post ride if you finish where you start a simple fixup may get somthing usable.

MTBO Score from South Brent.

some nice riding up on the moor but spoiled by failing to find the two furthest away controls. First one were given a verbal descriotion of where it was at the start but there was just no sign of it as described, still spent about 5 mins looking. 2nd one was on a totaly non existent bridleway down though burnt gorse. I abandoned the bike and tried to get down on foot, I spent about 6 minutes trying and failing to get to the wall in about the right spot befor giving up and starting to head for home as time was getting short. I did 45 mins with no controls. A long way back and far from flat and into a headwind. 7 mins late...

I did not speak to ayone else how found the controlls two people how failed like me. I suspect the first was nicked or the verbal description was just wrong. The second one I think must be somewhere else as from the description the organiser gave it was on a decent track but that was not where the bridelway was marked on the map.

Not realy going that well pussy footing about a bit too much up on the technical bits on the moor where I shoukld of been attacking it more.

Severn Saturdat. Trying just to take it easy with race tommorow but they were just going too quick having to work hard to keep in the line. Called it a day just before Bearkley and headed back by myself.

I managed to fall off coming back, route I don't normaly take and there was a junction I was not expecting with gravel on it. I went into the verge rather than try and turn hard on the gravel as I almost mist it not concentrating. Unfortunatlky there was a big rock on the verge hidden in the grass and a went over the bars. All OK apart from a tingely face after lanfing in the nettles.

Evening MTB. By my self as Matt pulled out mid afternoon. Steady pace not pushing. Had map board on and the 1:25000 OS map had to refold 6 times.

Headed north quiute a bit of road but a few bits of bridelway, out the ones I know get very bad out the back of littleton to Cow hill but they were not to bad. The one to rockhampton was fairly grassy fields for the middle bit. Nice bit over the motorway to the woods around St Michels wood. Then a long small road section to get to the start of the real work. 4 times up the edge North Nibbly and good stuff acorss to top of old london road. road decent and the steap road climb out of wooton. Down Ozelworth and a realy speap climb to thatcham had to walk a bit. Nice decent then up the Cotswold way to Hawksbury. The bridelway around the back of the nvilage is as quick as tarmac.. Nice dead end lane and bridelway after Horton. Then a long haul back on the road where I was fairly knackered.

Cold feet by the end. I need some new Winter boots the old ones have shrunk and I can not get them on.

No-one slow apart from me strugelin to hang on the back on the climbs, good job I was the only one knowing the route s they had to wait for me. James was impresive 100+ miles yesterday with Roger then on the front for a lot of today. Got droped coming back down the cycle path soon after leaving bath, realy done in by home.

Severn Saturday ride. 10 out to start with. Roger and james went for more and Alan and Mathew turned back early. 2 punctures from Chris so a new Tire for him for next week.

Tytherington, main road through Charfield, back way up to old London road. Rather quick along towards Nailsworth.

Heading down through the vilage on the hill I thought there was going to be a big pileup I was towards the back as a car coming up passing parked cars on it's side of the road desided to reverse swinging his front around to leave no space. We were heading down at 30mph and everyone was hard on the breakes locking up rear tires all over the place. James went through about a 6 inch gap with a wheel against the curb and pushing off the bonet with his hand. Roger was on the pavment... Was suprising no-one was on the deck.

Up the W to Mintchinhampton where James was flying, I just hung onto Roger. Saw Mike lane coming down the other way. On around to tetbury, Leighterton, bit of A46 and back through Hawksbury upton. Good ride, bit fast at times.

Westbury. Out with Mikes groupe up to the downs then did there first long effort and headed back down past the halls. lots and lots of streatching and a good bit of jogging on the files before heading out. Calf OK but hips - groin stiffening up heafing back in. Thought I was doing the effort at temp pace but it felt hard after a minute but I got into it better for the second half. Not running fit at all but this is at least a start.

Severn Sund Ride. Just the 3 out and the other two were newcomers to Sunday rides. Gordon and James. Very quick early on with a big tail wind. Couls not keep up with Gordon and James up the two hills, James has wone a Hill climb and a cat 3/4 road race recently so is going well. A good job to as once we turned for home he was doing most of the work into the wind and having to ease up at time to stop Gordon going off the back. Up to Todmartom was very slow going. Fairly knackerd by the time I got home.

Severn saturday ride. 9 out which was good a couple slower who strugled to stay on heading to the bridge as Chriss and Alan went a bit quick... I hung back and waitied over the bridge, the others had a puncture so we went on ahead, got caught at Shirenewton, hung onto Chris and Alans wheel up the hill only the three of use. HR way higher than I have had it on the bike before maybe I am manageing to work more mucels? Down towards Usk then sharp right where Roger left us heading for Abergaveny.

Others Punctured again so we went on, Alan was aiming for some hill I had never done straght on at the Cross roads to Llansoy then up the hilly lane we use one one of the Sunday runs, stoped at the top and waited for 5 mins but the others never showed up somade our own way through the lanes and up a good 18% hill to Treleck, back through Tintern.

Good ride one hard bit but generaly fairly steady pace but I was on the front a good bit.
