Milatary challenge MTBO. An advertised 37km but I managed 50km. Some fairly hard going on somer soft ground. Heart rate not as high as I would of expected. Thought I was pushing hard all the way. Forgot bottle so it was a log way to the drinks point about 3/4 of the way around.

A few stupid mistakes. bad route to 3 ended up with all falen trees. Bad route to 10 compared to Al. bad route to 19 then messed it up. Probobly lost 2 mins but no-one seemed to be clean for it. Went the wrong way out of the spectator controll and had to come back past it 30 seconds later... getting tired towards the end. lost at least 2 minutes on 42 so off route I had to resort to getting my compass out.

My normal position 2nd to Ben by 47 seconds!!. 5 minutes up on Al.

SWOC Xmass score. A very slushy and slipery St. Julians wood. 60 minute score but you got double points if you did odd or evened numbered controlls together. I did all Evens then all Odds and cleared up with 4 minutes to spair. Think I may of won as I had the maximum score and Clive managed to miss one out and Mark S was also missing a couple. Not good enough to beet Annie on a three to one scoring system. Pushed fairly hard but it was aufully slipery so not actiualy going very quick ever.

Running race (fell snow) 29:01 [5] 5.0 km (5:48 / km) +250m 4:39 / km

Devils chair dash. Probobly more snow than I have seen before. 4-6 inches rocks all nicely covered. Steady start the tooked in behind 2nd lady to the bottom of the steep bit at the field overtook about 3 up the steep but they then all went past me on the flat bit to the top. A total revers of what used to hapen where I was past o the climb and then went back on the flat. Jusst about held my position coming back 2nd lady went past on the flat but got back past on the steep where Batman went past me but I got him on the final little climb on the run in.

30 seconds slower than lest year but conditions were proboobly that mush worse.

Tim D was not there race won by Andy in 22.25 to keep in the the family though

To the Skiridd and back from Raglan. Looking for the smallest roads to get the most snow. Probobly 50% snow and ice. A fairly undulating route compared to the main road. Rather chilly setting off put a pair of tights on under my cyceling bottoms. 10 minutes quicker back than there.

Walk up the Skirrid. Had my boots in mum and dads car so changed and added an extra pair of socks then headed off quite quickly to chace Mum dad andd Nic. Caught them just after the steep bit at the start of the main ridge. then slower to the top. Realy spectacular day no clouds no wind snow all around... Went down quicker to get cyceling back. Boots not so good in the snow danger of sliping on the hard Packed stuff all the time. Was having to kick steps to go up quickly.... Would of been far better with O shoes but thern my feet did warm up in the boots whereas they would of frozen more with O shoes.

Hardly anyone down and the pavilion building shut so changing in the tenise center. Took Fielix and Adam for an adventurus 30 minutes in the snow before Niel went through a load of drills and exercises with them. Only one light between three so they had to stay close to be able to see. Across to other field and down to stream then up it to bottom Blaze carpark then up the Blazer hill down by the wall from the castle and then up the beach grove which was interesting in trainers. Back in the back way past the alotments. A nice adventures run and I pushed on a lot harder than I would of by myself.

Past Crany with a big light going the other way by the Mill. I had forgoten my big light in my rush to get out of the house so only had the spot. Some quicker bits with Adam some slower bits with Caroline.

Was going to go out by myself into Blaze as not many people down at Westbury training. I ended up with Felix for company as non of the normal quick ones were down and off road running is more like what he needs to prepare for the fells next season so Niel pointed him my way. This of course ment I had to push on considerably harder than I would normaly by myself just to not have him freezing waiting for me. Sent him off up the hills with instructions to come back from the top and he duly disapeared. I was keeping up fairly well along the flats though. Good session for me.

Cross race in St Georges park. Hard frozen ground with snow cover. Short lap with only the one realy sharp tight bend. One fast off camber one that was aukward. One realy nice long downhill sweeper that was good fun. Strugeled to realy go fast minor cold symptoms just keeping the top end effort down. Found myself alone most of tha race in the back half of the field.

Not suprisingly there was no one at the club run meeting point so out on my own on the Scale with the ics spike tires looking for snowy roads. Across to Ozelworth and the hills up there through Kingscote with a couple of roads where I was the first thing with wheels though. Out onto the A46 not realy sure where I was went straight across but what looked like a laane was probobly a farm track and I had ton turn back tried a lane further north but it turned more north so desided to do a good bit on the A46 to get back into terain where I knew where I was. Back the standard route from Hawkesbury upton.

Probobly about 50% on nice compacted snow 50% tarmc. Saw a skidoo going the other way on one of the lanes. feeling a bit tired at end but had enough in the legs to chace another cycelist down 100m comming out of Iorn Acton.

Severn Sunday run from warmely. Just Graham John and a guy called Garry how normaly gose out with the docks group on Saturday but missed it so was out with us. He was rather strong a real endurance man talking about a mad audax up to anglesea and back. He could not be out for the full length of time thgough and neither could john so by Malmsbury it was Graham and myself again. Nice day cloudless sky once out of the mist around Bristol roads good untill we got onto tetbury lane at Crudwell where it was not grited and intermitently in the shade, very much a case of having to go straight and steady as rather slipery. Had to wait a good bit at end as Graham was walking the worst bits. Was very tired the last hour definatly had yesterday and the work I did early on in the ride catch up with me.

Computer soped loging after about 75km. worked again when I took out and re inserted the SD card so probobly just a bad contact after a bump.

Severn saturday run. 13 out. Over the bridge and I got them to take the lanes route to the wentwood climb so we stoped the pace going to stupid. Setoff not to push Wentwood too hard with WNL tonight. Anna, Chris and Alan G went off the front then Roger and Mark W were in sight infront of myself with Mark Phillips how was going well. Towards the top Alan G had droped back and was with roger and mark and as they were only 50m up the road I could not restrain myself and put some effort in caught MarkW but roger and Alan also accelerated and sprinted for the top so I ended up about 10m off them. Alan was clearly being truthfull when he said he was not fit.

Split at the top and I lead the shorter groupe along the ridge to devauden and back. had another puncture along the ridge so off to get some new tires this afternoon before tomorrows ride.

23, 18, 12, 13, 19, 25, 27, 24, 21, 20, 22, 26, 28, failed to find 16, 17, 14, 15, failed to find 11, 9. 1.40 late.

No way I have the speed any more to get them all here so I desided to ignore the large number of 10 pointers close to the start finish and get into the higher pointers on the hill. fairly cleen small losses on 13 early on and 14 towards the end where I should of seen it from where I was. Probobly too far left for 16 but no time to mess around looking and lots of fallen trees in the area. Not sure which side I missed 11 on again no time to look.

Quite pleased with my route anoying missing the two controls. About 30-40 points off Mark Bown. Better than Kieth though.

Results are out and I am down as winning. I have 15 more points than expected as the total was 615 not 600 and I was working out my score by subtracting what I did not get... Still not quite enough for 3X mum...

HFW East of Purdown route.

The Scale is definatly better for comuting than the RC1. A higher body position with the fingers on the breaks than down on the drops is more comfortable and gives better visability. Disks reasure a lot going though the traffic and pedestrians down by the Uni. Fatter rubber means you can go though potholes with a lot less worry even with the fork locked out.

Run with Mikes group. Has been misty most of the day and in some places it's been condensing out so quite a lot of snow covered paths but the amount is very localy variable. Most in westbury village where the road was fairly well coated. Came back with the slower group from the top of the downs.

Severn Sunday run, Just myself and Graham. Very steady especialy to start with where Graham was ver cautions given any sign of ice where as I am happy just rolling on though it. Followed the perscribed route apart from the small lanes bit east of raglan which were clearly going to be very dodgy especialy the decent. Went through Raglan instead. Even with very steady pace feeling tired by the end. Which I had had my camera as some very good views in places especialy comming back over the bridge up above the fog.

Saturday run. Only 7 out and although things were a lot warmer and thawing people did not want to brave the lanes so out up the A38 everyboby taking there turn on the front so a fair lick. Then up though stinshcoumb and on the hilly road to wooton. I punctured along here and only Simon who was going to head home from Wooton waited so a slightly less frenatic run home with hime bit still quite quick. heart rate suprisingly high.

WNL. Fyfield Down. A new area for me which was good and not a comon thing. Not running too quickly but nav OK.
13, 24, 17, 22, 27, 21, 25, 18, 20, 26, 19, 10, 5, 9, 4, 3, 2, 6, 7, 8
So severn short but only 5 seconds late whch was a lot better than most people and 29 minutes better than Roger Mann!!! and after hearing about his adventure off the map he did well to manage that. Tom aparently got all but 1 and quite a few had more than me but most were later so not sure of the real outcome but probobly not so good.

ITW via golden ball tesco route for cakes. Cold. HFW via the A38 route which is slightly shorter but a long drag up and lots of traffic lights that a lot of the other cycelists were ignoring whereas I was strictly legal and thus kept overtaking the same people a number of times befor getting away properly.

I have access to the bike enterance to the underground parking so a nice dry sopt to leave the bike, was parked up next to exactly the sort of thing I need for comuting sturdy tyres flat bars disks and a hub gear in this case a nexus 8. I want to see some real life reports on the new Afine 11 before commiting the cash for somthing using it.
