Driffield sprint race. Good area but I was not racing well, slower than I should be through the puddles and ruts... Went just past 4, missed obvious straight path to 8 then messed up on the rout I did take. Coming off the hill at 10 I hit a bump and came down hard on the sadel ending up with it pointing 20 degrees nose down. Went over the bars going from 14 to 15 when the front wheel went down a hole in the grass. 6th 3 mins off Andy C. would be interesting to see the splits to see how mutch the saddle slowed me on the second half.

OK route ggadget at
http://www.halo-orienteering.org.uk/cgi-bin/reitti...
Looks like I was about up to speed initaly but then lost time on 8 and 15 and lost speed generaly after the saddle insident at 10-11

Chopwell MTBO. Regretting not being on the blur the first 3 controls where it was a bit rooty and bumpy but more fast stuff after that. Missed best route to 4, heading straight to road rather than using railway track. loast 30 secs to Al. also lost 20 odd secs on 9 but not realy sure how. Hard work up the final climb fairly knackered by the end. Unfortunatly no computer record which would of been interesting.

3 mins up on Andy C. Al had been close till 11 then 12 was not yet oput for him and he riped his mech off at 16. Alan got even further before a head on colision with a downhiller going to 17 wiped him out.

Out with Matt again. From Ashton Court around the bridleways from barrow gurney and a loop around goblin coumb. a few too mant getes early on but the later bridleways were generaly OK and good fun. down broughton coumb was fun. final bit of mtb trail in ashton court at the end.. Good number of people out in the dark.

Nothing like as hard as last week I did not want to push as hard and Matt said he was feeling off form right from the start so not realy pushing. Of course some of the climbs give you no option you either push or walk...

Midland trailquest from Chipping Camden. Very much a hunt for the punches afair. Descriptions like bridleway gate, fence post 10m South... Easy finding the main feature but finding just a punch on a bit of string after that was frustrateing.

Started well, though I would get most of them ofter an houre so went for some lower points ones then failed to find 15 all together despite waisting 3 - 4 mins. The riding got slower and I missed the path at one point and went around the edges of some soft fields which took forever. Eventualy got to the hilly bit with only 35 mins left so only time for the 50 pointer before a 20 min dash back to just make it in. Should of skipped some lower points ones then there would of been another 90 points worth avalible on a more sensible route back. 390 got creditied with the one I did not find Ian Cartright 425...

Some nice tracks and less road then 2 weeks ago but the hiden punches were frustrating. Looks like I had 23 mins stationary most of which will of been searching around for punches...

Matt Burden Posted on the Severn RC site interested in doing some CX rides of an evening. So we met at the enterence to Ashton Court at 5.30. me on the Scale and him on one of his 2 cross bikes (he has 15 bikes...) He had not been around the new train so we did a lap and a third of that to start then headed along the ridge to Cleavedon and back looking for some interesting Bridelways. The cross bit was far better on the Man made MTB track than some of the natural stuff we found. Pushing fairly hard to start with. Good to be out in the dark at the end but getting tired so mist some bits we may of done and got onto the towpath befor climbing back up into Liegh woods where Matt gave me a demonstration of climbing.

Mtbo Score south of Exiter on Woodbury common and Mutters moor. Realy good area for it, good bridelways and a big network of Rups probobly less than 20% of my time on tarmc Some good singletrack on Woodbury common which looks like it would be a good MTBO area. Would be a bit better earlier in the year as I got quite a bit of nettle sting on my arms. Map was good 1:25000 OS shrunk to about 1:33333 double sides back to back laminated with a good bit of overlap.

Decided to take the mutters moor bit first as there was no obvious way of missing bits doing it at the end and it got the big climbing over early. lost some time on third controll as got a couple of feet of bindweed wound around the casset and it took some freeing. Checkpoint at the viewpoint on High Peak was a spectacular view down the clifs on the coast. A couple of slower bits after crossing the river Otter heading up to the common where I had to stop for trail bikes coming the other way. Was sure I could get close to clearing it but not garantead and there was an aukward controll that I could take from various sides, desided to leave it till the end to have the option of dropping it. Decision time with 20 mins left so went for it and got in about 4 mins early.

Pleased with the way I was going well clear of everyone else bit only about 20 which was a pity for such a good event.

Good bit less unaccounted for time than last week so I clearly was not stationary for anything like as long.

Severn Sataday ride. Just Chris, Anna, Alan, Simon Crisp and myself. rather fast and my heart rate was a good 10 beats higher than I would of expected for the effort level so I did not go to the max on the hills and was off the back a good bit. Chepstow, Shirenewton, Devauden, Tintern, Chepstow loop.

Bok training the Priory. Back down to more normal numbers only 4. Managed to get us a bit lost and stuck in an exitless field so ended up doing a bit of dodgy busy road in the gatherring gloom. Should of taken light.

Left calf started hurting abiut half way round going downhill on Tarmac. Hobeling a bit from them on.....

Midland trailquest around Wire forest 3 hours. a wiles since I did one of these, very slow getting off the line and deciding a route and then I got down close to no 1 and was ment to follow a premisive path but there was a guy saying you could not go down there... I ended going all the way around back very close to the finish after 12 minutes racing.... not so bad after that but missed a bridleway for 3 whise was realy like someones drive with a big gate across it, I came back through it coming out. OK nav after this but not at all sure on the route being good espesialy the bit up 1,2,4,3 which was only 60 points and took a good bit of time. After this bit I to decide wether to get the forest controlls of head over the river for the high pointers over there. I tool this option hoping to finish up though the forest but did not have time. ended up zig zaging bath sides of Bewdley and then having to timetrial my way back up the main road from the river for 20 minutes to get in with a minute to spair.

Ended up 2nd with 330 as opposed to the leaders 350. Probobly the messing at the start and firsrt controll stoping me from having time to come back though the forest.. Discovered afterwards that there were 1 to 25000 maps with writen details about the interesting bits in the hall before the start but I missed these and the reproduction on the 1 to 50000 was terible no real clue as to where the countours were...

Severn Saturday ride. A bit quick early on. Went up Ozelworth after hearing from John that it had been resurfaced. A new route for a lot of people. Then the hilly route over the top and down to Westonbirt on accross to easton gray then back up the tough road to Todmarton. Right pedle bearing went comming up the road here so taking it easy coming in from heree by myself.
