Running 40:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-DS Sky Speed

Easy run where I tried to include some sprint map reading. Had maps from TUT and Heronbridge.

Orienteering race 1:50:40 [3] 9.8 km (11:18 / km) +435m 9:14 / km
shoes: Montrail Rockridge

Another very horrible race. As Uge said, when people catch me I tend to lose my head a little and do my own thing (they then punch the control I was trying to find and leave being kind enough not to show me where the control is.

Was going well until 5 (had caught Uge) and then I was drawn too far to the left. I seemed to misread the road that was going around the hill and thought I was too far to the right. Made another awful mistake at 12 where I went into a parallel gorge and played around there for a bit, really silly in the end.

Was following Jeremy to 18 and lost track of where I was so I ended up backtracking (up nevertheless) when I should have continued at least another 400 m.

I have definitely had one of my "I hate orienteering" weekends.

Note

Last week of base training left. I am going to try for a 75 km week and then will go back to around 60 km for the next 5 weeks of speed.

Hoping to get some sprint technical training in every weekend from now. Just need to ask for maps from people :).

Orienteering race 43:29 [3] *** 4.4 km (9:53 / km) +150m 8:27 / km
shoes: Montrail Rockridge

Didn't have a very good race. Went very low on 4 and ended up close to my first control (Not sure what happened). Overran 11 by a long way and ended up having to backtrack. I ran around the large crag and was sure I would see a 2m high crag from the bottom where I was. Needless to say, it wasn't 2m tall...

I think I had pretty much a crisis of confidence after that so didn't seem to hit controls spot on (even though they were relatively easy...). I also don't particularly enjoy this, "I can see where I have to go, now I just have to slog my way up there", orienteering.

Orienteering race (Night O) 17:30 [3] 2.5 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Flite 195

Awesome race. I am posting this comment only after running on the weekend so it was by far the best of the three. I knew the area pretty well so I always knew where I was. Almost missed control 6 (not sure how I read that).

Been having problems lately with my orienteering. Lots of things that I need to sort out before the WOC sprint.
