Adventure Racing race (Swazi Xtreme) 77:06:16 [3]

Raced the Swazi Xtreme as team Here Be Dragons. We had a few unlucky turns of event, like on day one we snapped a boat in half (the canal that we were paddling in was extremely narrow and the water fast flowing). We made a few nav mistakes as well (partially my fault :( ) but overall it was a good experience. We were stuck a few times at night where nav just became impossible because you were unable to see the surrounding terrain. It was often just worth it to sleep when you had made a mistake.

Learnt a lot, like needing to actually stop when you have gone over the distance to the next CP and your team is telling you that you "Can't go back because it is uphill, may as well just follow the road". Also learnt that using a 1:50 000 map for nav is very much guesswork. Almost no real roads are on the map.

I am sad that it was the last Swazi, I am sure that we would have done a lot better if given another shot at it.

Went for 8 laps around emmarentia. Feeling more comfortable at the whole paddling thing. Hopefully we won't go swimming...
