Note
(rest day)

12 hour day in the lab means I really didn't feel like running today. Sprint lined up for tomorrow and then Harvester this weekend where I am running the final leg :O. Also looking forward to Kilian's Classik next weekend!

Orienteering race (British Sprint Heat C) 15:26 [3] 3.8 km (4:04 / km) +40m 3:52 / km
shoes: Flite BW 0612

Amazing how things come together when they really count. A few wobbles but nothing drastic. Just a little frustrating to punch the one control too quickly and have to go back (6 seconds). Some good route choice on one or two legs but otherwise just going hard for the entire race.

Finished 4th which was good enough for the A Final.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [3]
shoes: Inov8 Xtalon 212 0216

Pouring with rain by the time I had to start. Based on advice from other people I decided to change shoes. Was a good decision in the end.

Orienteering race (British Sprint A Final) 17:09 [3] 3.8 km (4:31 / km) +90m 4:02 / km
shoes: Inov8 Xtalon 212 0216

Messed up badly to one mainly because of possibly the worst control description in the history of orienteering. Southern end of tunnel is pretty vague and could be either the higher or lower level. Possibly should have moved that particular control. Otherwise it was alright. Tried to get flow through the tricky sections with the different bridges, but there was a lot of going back on yourself to get to the next control. Chris Smithard (two minute man) caught me just towards the end, but he had been close to me since right near the beginning so I was quite happy to have held him off for that long.

Finished 15th/18th I think which I'm pretty happy with. Good day out at the Olympic park. We also seemed to be in the flight path of the planes flying towards Buckingham Palace for the Queen's birthday.

Climbing 1:30:00 [3]

Some bouldering. Still definitely a beginner, but occasionally the height helps.
